Must people think of Go Go as RE, NE, Back, and others, but Go Go is much broader then that. Just need to know more history. Go-go actually started with Chuck playing extended versions of songs and creating a groove. Instead of ending a song they decided to keep the groove going and migrated that 10 min or so groove right into the next song. He saw that folks was diggin that and the rest as we say is history.

I used to play in a go-go ban called central groove back in my high school daze. Go-go at its most basic is all about the groove, the beat if you will with the percussion (congas, timbales, roto toms, cow bells etc.) turned up above most every thing else. The main reason it doesn't do so well (nationwide) is that it is what it is, a never ending groove with virtually no resolution to the song. Chuck, EU, and Trouble (Funk) to name a few, made it cause they understood this.

If you really think about it most all grooves are derived from old James Brown shit. Even the idea of the front man hypin up the crowd with "talkin" on the mike came from JB. Today's sound is just different, its changed. The open hi-hat has, in my opinion effed up the sound.
