I liked the song enough to try and play it, and that's the very simplified musical language other guitar hobbyists would understand, if they also wanted to try it. No big deal.
Playing along with this on a well-tuned acoustic guitar, seems it's maybe key of G#. Sounds like mostly low-end intervals or power chords needed to get fairly close to his guitar. The main verse appears to repeat C-G-A#-G-A#, with a C-G-G-A# variation in the very 1st line. "Scars of your love" part may be G#-A#-G-G#, G#-A#-G first pass, G#-A#-G-G#, A#-G-G#-G the next. Chorus appears to repeat C-A#-G#-A#, except a brief part they sit on C. Let me know if you try it out hear it differently.

If you spend that much time on production, spend more on working the tonality issues out. Totally agree with christrealized,...one more criticism,..hire pro players if you are going to this effort. Well, I have been critical on some of your work before but this one I like. Video was well done, great song, It could have been pitchy in parts but the video in all kept me focused on what was going on and I just didn't notice if it was or not. I could go back and listen to it again and will but think I will enjoy it as much as the first time. Thanks for sharing it with us. Every note is in TUNE, the alternative style of sound she decided to cover the song in may not be appreciated by all for whatever reason, i like it for the fact that its daring, BOLD, in your face, different from any version i have heard. To all negative minded uptight individuals out there learn to accept her musical rendition.
@Marco262a the only one that is being narrow minded here is you Marco. There is nothing negative about being honest. That is how we get better and correct the pitch issues. It's a part of recording a song. That is what the punch in feature if for. Sing it again until you get it right.. take the extra time needed and be honest with the musicians. If you let an album go to press out of pitch no one will buy it and the artist will end up hating you for not being honest with them.

Some may want a stronger voice, style change, new song, etc. Many of 161 people who like this are musicians/music lovers & honestly not hearing missed notes. Doesn't mean it's album-ready, but a nice step toward it. When you say she's "extremely pitchy thru out the whole song", she's sharp or flat a lot, right? Please give time markers of the worst cases.

The vocals sound great to me. I've listened over & over, & don't hear a missed note. Maybe someone from the "that was pitchy, dawg" persuasion could give specific time points & describe (1/4 step off, 1/8, 1/16). I'm wondering if it's more a qustion of not liking her particular style - too earthy, too sultry for her age, or whatever. Maybe dad was a bit rusty on guitar (bobbled chord at 2:32 ?). If they played a gig every night for months it would improve, but it's very good for the price.
I watched 4 of your other videos beforing coming back to this one.Take away the great song and you have a awesome song. This is the style of music to focus on. And don't break up the act. Well, I have been critical on some of your work before but this one I like. Video was well done, great song, It could have been pitchy in parts but the video in all kept me focused on what was going on and I just didn't notice if it was or not. I could go back and listen to it again and will but think I will enjoy it as much as the first time. Thanks for sharing it with us. I know it took a large amount of time to shoot and edit the video and it looks very very professional. mike

Let me be a little ***DARING*** and say that to anyone out there who may think that EmiLY is singing out of tune should seriously have their ears checked out !!!
Every note is in TUNE, the alternative style of sound she decided to cover the song in may not be appreciated by all for whatever reason, i like it for the fact that its daring, BOLD, in your face, different from any version i have heard. To all negative minded uptight individuals out there learn to accept her musical rendition.

@Marco262a the only one that is being narrow minded here is you Marco. There is nothing negative about being honest. That is how we get better and correct the pitch issues. It's a part of recording a song. That is what the punch in feature if for. Sing it again until you get it right.. take the extra time needed and be honest with the musicians. If you let an album go to press out of pitch no one will buy it and the artist will end up hating you for not being honest with them.

@christrealized All 79 negative votes were not saying she was out of pitch. Avianskies101 trashed most everything but said she was in tune. Some may want a stronger voice, style change, new song, etc. Many of 161 people who like this are musicians/music lovers & honestly not hearing missed notes. Doesn't mean it's album-ready, but a nice step toward it. When you say she's "extremely pitchy thru out the whole song", she's sharp or flat a lot, right? Please give time markers of the worst cases.

@BadOldMovieFan pitchy doesn't necessarily mean flat or sharp... though she does go there at times,
it more means that she sings pitch to pitch. Not as much flow as there could have been. And sometimes tempo seems a little off...

@Hagosha Thanks, you seem to confirm my point, that different people may have different definitions for what they mean by "pitchy". So, maybe it has become a term for expressing a general dislike, such that further explanation is required before a specific problem can be identified. If it's lack of flow from pitch to pitch, that sounds like perhaps a style issue - you prefer a more legato, less staccato style of singing for this song,

@avianskies101 People who like this clip are liars? Classy. For someone who knows "criticism", has film credits & all, your comments aren't so constructive. "Needs work" might apply to top artists on given products (roughly my reaction to Norah Jones - Live in New Orleans, though not for her voice). Do rocks in the river & black+white ever fit the song lyrics? Granted, with 300 hours & $30,000, maybe they do underwater video on this one. Last, many artists have had hits on covers - honest

The vocals sound great to me. I've listened over & over, & don't hear a missed note. Maybe someone from the "that was pitchy, dawg" persuasion could give specific time points & describe (1/4 step off, 1/8, 1/16). I'm wondering if it's more a qustion of not liking her particular style - too earthy, too sultry for her age, or whatever. Maybe dad was a bit rusty on guitar (bobbled chord at 2:32 ?). If they played a gig every night for months it would improve, but it's very good for the price.

I watched 4 of your other videos beforing coming back to this one.Take away the great song and you have a awesome song. This is the style of music to focus on. And don't break up the act. Female duet teams are rare and you 2 got it. Check out "Mama's he's crazy" by the Judds. I can hear you 2 do a great cover of it. Let me know.

I have been watching you girls with great interest since you mailed me back a while ago, and I have to say you are talented...this song was a little rough, but done in great BT fashion: 4 out of 5 stars in my opinion, but who am I but another YouTuber looking at what I was requested by the BT girls to watch. The video production was well done also...BRAVO!

...and for those who have a problem with pitch: this song doesn't sound easy to cover or reproduce. Sure, her voice isn't as powerful as Adele's, but she gave her all. I make mistakes, but I won't let them stop me when I am recording or playing out. NOBODY's PERFECT, but this was a good go-at for the BT girls.
