  • How warm/hot do the metal sides of the kiln get?

Because they are metal, maybe they are conducting heat away from the insulating board.

I know the plans call for a material (I forget what it was called) I couldn't find it.

    just a thought.

but, it looks like you got to temperature, so..

  • Really nice. I like the toasty clay body too.

  • Your Blue jean Glaze did you make it? Can you share the recipie? I would love to try it! Nice work Chris!

  • Love the Celadon glaze! you should be proud of that batch! good job

  • Nice kiln opening. I think the toasty clay body is nice.

I really like your oatmeal bowls. That glaze is very pretty. I love the matte finish.

How long does it take your kiln to fire to ^10?

  • @DirtKickerStudio - with my new chimney it took 6 hours to get to cone 10.5. I overfired it. Cone 10 probably dropped at 5 3/4 hours. I'll slow it down a bit next time. No more than 7 hours though. 7 hours is a long time to baby sit this small kiln.

  • nice wares Chris! I happen to like the darkness of your clay body, nice contrast with your celadon!
