@DirtKickerStudio - with my new chimney it took 6 hours to get to cone 10.5. I overfired it. Cone 10 probably dropped at 5 3/4 hours. I'll slow it down a bit next time. No more than 7 hours though. 7 hours is a long time to baby sit this small kiln.
How warm/hot do the metal sides of the kiln get?
Because they are metal, maybe they are conducting heat away from the insulating board.
I know the plans call for a material (I forget what it was called) I couldn't find it.
just a thought.
but, it looks like you got to temperature, so..
