@hyuugafan2 HPF M3 is a piece of shit when it comes to a track car, the torque and power curve are not linear, it has far too much power and will spin. This guy is running a 295 rear do you really think a Stage 4 would be fine with a tire that small? There's no way a HPF Stage 4 could beat this on a track, on the street in a straight line maybe but the track, forget it. The HPF isn't a very good car at what it does either, the traction problems are massive.

BTW: The car crosses the white line at about 9.7 s into the video and the timing only begins later, but stops at the white line. No matter what the local custom may be, whenever I measure a lap, I measure it between two IDENTICAL points - e.g. line-to-line in this case. The line-to-line time is about 7:37.8 - 9.7 s = 7:28.1. The local custom can be different (lap start line different from lap finish line), but it is NOT what you would call APPROPRIATE to claim that as a FULL lap. This is 98.8 %.
When you consider that Lexus claim internal Lexus LFA testing time of "better than 7:20" with a completely stock Lexus LFA, you can see that finally, Lexus did their homework concerning track speed, not just the usual comfort/reliability stuff. The price may be insane (as is the production run of just 250 vehicles), but it IS a FAST Lexus. E.g. the MUCH more expensive Veyron could VERY probably NOT beat the LFA at the Nordschleife (despite being faster at the Top Gear track, but LFA had it wet).
I get a bit of a headache listening to it on here, I reckon you need ear plugs to drive it. But if you're gonna go deaf, what a beautiful sound to cause it. :D
@jlubez True, but I doubt a bespoke 'loaded' CSL is an awful lot cheaper by the time everything is upgraded, stripped out roll cage put in etc. But I get your point, I love the E46 CSL.

Basically all parts that anyone can buy "off the shelf".
If it wasn't for the exhaust it would be perfectly road legal. It's even doing this lap on the same Michelin Pilot Cup tyres the standard CSL comes with...
@MOTORMOUTH2009 It has a role cage and some weight savings though, it comes at ~1450kg but the roll cage stiffens the chassis. The suspension setup is also important and clearly they've got it right so it's not exactly off the shelf. You still need to get the car setup but I do understand what you mean, anyone can build a similar car.

also keep in mind they did the 7,22 with a damaged front spoiler towards the end, so you could probably go a bit faster if you'd keep it intact all the way. <3
The timer starts at 0.14 when he passes a white mark just before the left corner. The timer stops when he comes out from the right corner and passes a white line on the track. Between that line and the white mark it's 4 seconds. That mean he did the lap in 7.26. Not 7.22!
It's a Sport Auto lap which is used in every official timeattack on the Nordschleife. This is because during the industrypool testing the speed is limited to 50km/h between the two lines.

of the tires ar almost the same)

the time (of the m3 csl) on the wet circular path was with 52 km/h better then many cars with normal tyres

It's an ess supercharged BMW M3 CSL, it puts out 532.7 rwhp and weighs 3,139 pounds with 30L of fuel, which is 400 more than the Pagani Zonda F that it beat. Slight body mods too but nothing crazy. Some car!

also keep in mind they did the 7,22 with a damaged front spoiler towards the end, so you could probably go a bit faster if you'd keep it intact all the way. <3

as the track looks now, yes.
there are faster laptimes from its racing days tho when the track looked slightly different, afaik no-one ever broke 7 mins but they were very close.

actually, the absolute lap record around the track is 6:11.13. Set by Stefan Bellof in a Porsche 956 back in 1983.

The timer starts at 0.14 when he passes a white mark just before the left corner. The timer stops when he comes out from the right corner and passes a white line on the track. Between that line and the white mark it's 4 seconds. That mean he did the lap in 7.26. Not 7.22!

It's a Sport Auto lap which is used in every official timeattack on the Nordschleife. This is because during the industrypool testing the speed is limited to 50km/h between the two lines.

The bimmer, mods, the slicks, the racing fuel, yea it's all impressive, but hey, money can buy all of that. But, the driver must be given some real props here. He nails nearly every apex perfectly, flawless shifting and breaking and always aligns his car perfectly.. very talented and practiced.

Wait until someone do the similar stuff to a ZR1, what is a M3 cls standard time ? 8 minutes or something ?
Good driver in the BMW, ok driver in the Zr1, i estimate that a good driver in the Zr1 would click off atleast 4 secons on a stock car.
And the ZR1 has a base price of 103.000 usd, thats 65.000 Euro, how much is the M3 :-)

the ZR1 has a base price of 136k Euros (almost twice the price of a CSL), and a standard M3 CSL does the track in 7:50, so even with 20,000 £s, $s or Euros spent on mods, a CSL is a relative bargain
