  • wish i wouldve been able to see them a

    t a show like this :)

  • I wish Joe Strummer was remembered for songs like these by the public.... not the famous songs whose meanings don't come close to this....

  • fuck yea

  • How can you not figure out what a fucking punk band is playing when you are looking at them playing HAHa.. man what a joke..... b7w4h, this isnt a rip towards the Clash either..

  • @highschoolmusical841 Let me dream!

  • this fucking kicks ass!!!!!

  • Why was I born in 1991?

  • @JESSESEIBEL 90's music (the pearl jam //nirvana / stp / RHC / soundgarden generation) kicked ass... melts the faces off these dudes... as far as music goes.

  • @LetItRock420 except they all sound the same. The Clash, The Sex Pistols and The Slits at least sound different. Btw, those bands you listed suck, there are better 90's bands than that, especially in the grunge scene.

  • Respond to this video... I take that back, doesn't apply to RHCP

  • If Joe never died, world peace would've happened!

  • does anyone know where i can download the mp3 of THIS live version of garageland? This one has the best riff at the start, good job jonesy.

    thank you.

  • @MrTaxman88 download realplayer, it can download and convert to mp3

  • 3 people rate pretty high on Joe's bullshit detector.

  • A small bottle of britvic orange is thrown from the crowd by my mate to paul simonon who is gasping for a drink, the said bottle twats Joe on his nut: check the vid of Whats My Name! from the same concert. Strummer tries to smash the bottle and clear his head at the same time. Greatest gig of my life!!

  • One of the best, does anyone know where it was filmed, or is Elizabethan suite, October 77 a bit of a clue.

They did have a bit of a problem with there sound on this one, and when I saw them live with the Slits in 77/78 in Scotland, but still brilliant.

  • Damn! This show should be put on DVD! Fn' great footage!!!

  • Joe is REAL.

  • always loved the clash after i saw this song in 1986, and now glad that mick is great influence on the libertines, their son of a band, just a shame joe is no longer here, great guy well and truly missed.

  • Before the day is over I wanted to wish this guy 'Joe' a happy birthday... He lived by the river, in a little place called 'Gairageland' & London is calling...

  • joe is clearly trashed

  • The Clash were real great performers, they put everything they had had into their shows, you never get that anymore

  • OMG... "The only band that mattered..." in the gairage (sic) of life.

  • punk rock this is it (A)

  • love pauls rickenbakker, i PERSONALLY think he looks better wielding that rickenbakker that his p-bass

  • i wish that style was in now.

id like to see justin beeper try and sing this this song!!!!

  • 0:14 u see Paul looking at Joe and thinking "u better get up before its time to sing u twat!"

  • whats a bullshit detector? and how does it run off of carbon monoxide? i love the clash but this is a question ive asked forever lol

  • joe is god, GOD!!! and just because i was born in the mid 90's doesnt mean i like modern shit, lil wayne is gay, all mofdern bands r, listen to this...REAL MUSIC

  • im 16, and why was i born into an era of shit music.

  • joe strummer being a fucking madman , fuckin awesome

  • bloody hell i had a bleeched mohawk back then, now i`m almost bald:(

  • They put so much energy into it

    They're incredible

  • ha ha, this is gnarley

  • When was the last time someone was sweating that much on stage and really interacted with the audience? We need more bands like this.

  • the libertines probably :)

  • Last weekend... i nearly passed out O.O :P

  • Greatest band ever. They sounded even better playng live!

  • RIP Joe we need you now more than ever mate!

  • vive clash

  • this is passion. complete passion. fantastic.

  • Got me a proper man-crush on The Clash..that's ok, innit?! It ain't in THAT way, ya get me? Someone said heroes before and I can't agree more. Passion, aggression, humour...and missed.

  • They look so young and happy... they realy love to play, to be with the audience. My heroes.

  • wow never seen this vid before oh the memories!!, i had the pleasure supporting them on the pearl harbour tour many years ago, a great bunch of guys that never forgot their roots.

  • Watched this a 100 times and Joe never manages never manages to smash that bottlle....

  • If you wonder what the sign says in the end, it's swedish and is supposely a quote by Joe.

Translated it says: We're dealing with trash. What we've got is what other throw in the garbage.

  • lol good quote.

  • the clash (L)

  • he´s falling becous of the mick stative he kinda puts hes foot infront of it and then steps back and boom, GARAGELAND!

  • ah, this is such a great version!

I keep trying to figure out what Joe is doing in the beginning of the song though, and I have a few ideas, but I'm not too convinced; anybody know?

  • the song before this one was What's My Name (you might find a video for it up here, I've seen it several times), and at the end, he fell over for some reason, smacking his head against the drum riser! So he was still on the floor rolling around when this song began!

  • oh, wow, I probably would have never thought of that. Ha, thanks :]

  • you're welcome, man ;)

  • ya he fell cuz he was so drunk.

  • it's easy to find... anyway check out my other videos

  • @b7w4h Check out the version on The Punk Rock Movie, on that one, they seem to be going 500 miles per hour, it's super fast, faster than this one here.

  • @b7w4h I think he was just taking it easy for sec.

  • @b7w4h before this show joe took A LOT of speed, he couldnt stand up to save his own life

  • @b7w4h

he had fallen got his leg caught up in the mike stand after his previous song janie jones, filmed in manchester in 1977 elizabethan ballrooms.

  • @b7w4h A small bottle of britvic orange is thrown from the crowd by my mate to paul simonon who is gasping for a drink, the said bottle twats Joe on his nut: check the vid of Whats My Name! from the same concert. Strummer tries to smash the bottle and clear his head at the same time.

  • @b7w4h I think he's getting down. Everybodies different.

  • @b7w4h Uhh he busted his ass at the end of the last song

  • @b7w4h I'm guessing this is right after Whats My Name, where at the end he trips on the mic stand

  • RIP Joe Strummer , we miss you!

MAN, THE CLASH IS THE BEST 4EVER

"THE CLASH FROM HERE TO ETERNITY!"

  • this is amazing! perfect!

  • Fucking hilarious!!!

  • the only fucking band that matters so trueeeeeee

  • Excellent performance! I especially enjoyed the people patting Joe's head. But really, they were so into it and having a blast

  • I miss joe there was no one like hime or the Clash

  • Just for those who don't know, you can see young Mick Hucknall about five people back in the centre. I know cos thats me singing with Joe right at the front (when I had hair). You can get this, Janie Jones and other tracks recorded there at the Elizabethan Ballroom for So it Goes, as well as most other live recordings of the Clash on a bootleg DVD called 'The Clash Live on TV'. Very brief clips of the So it Goes stuff appear briefly on other official DVDs and 24 Hour Party People.

    Cheers

    Andy

  • As a huge clash fan, I must say...

THAT'S ABOUT THE FUCKING COOLEST THING EVER!! I don't know if you're just bullshitting me, but if you're telling the truth, I wanna shake your hand, despite that you can't sing worth shit...still, totally cool

  • i was there as well fella , did you manage get in when the crowd forced the doors open ? think about 200 did ..... was funny first song londons burning ..... and joes first line was ..... gettin in for nothin ! god i used love those guys !

  • Hi Wim (?) To be honest I can't remember! I can thank a first year university hallmate called Dave from Newport, for telling me about the gig - we got separated after and I walked home alone safely through Hulme while he got picked on for having long hair. He told me that his bed was bloodsoaked in the morning! Not you, is it?

Many hundreds of gigs later I still see thie one and Bowie on his Ziggy tour as being the best ones I've ever been to.

  • no wasnt me mate thank god , but i remmber goin appolo and walkin into town after , under the under pass at the round about . bloody night mare ! chased so many times lol for bein a punk .. lol funny now but not at the time !

  • hey man, who used to chase you for being punk mate? im only a young 18 yr old haha

    enlighten me

  • the locals , was a dead rough area .. mainly the local football hooligans .. knew a few of them , so most times was ok ... but on the wrong night ,, lol it was hell ... perry boys ..if that helps ! lol

  • ohhh right cheers lol noww i get you

  • MINCHIA!

  • This is such a powerful performance from the lads,i would say this was the natural way they played live and on the night were in as they say a no brain mode,it was no diffrent than any other night to them to play this record but to the crowd they seem to attack the centre of the onsuing army and defend there position,a last stand in some ways,iv,e seen this footage many time,s and in my mind say this was the best ever clip of the clash live.Listen to woody,s voice in

    the crowd fuckin heaven

  • people forget how powerful this was one day we had abba and leo sayer the THE CLASH fuckin class

  • shit!i've never seen nothing like that before!!nobody can perform like them!

  • hey kids, take some notes!! you can dress the dress but this is the real deal man!!!

  • putain, ça c'est du concert, quelle énergie Joe!

  • My god what a band what a performance...

  • Still

    The Only Band That Matters

  • I never apologize for being a punk of the '70s.

    I am Cock Robin.

  • where did you get this video? it's awesome.

  • great performance

  • great song

  • i rarley see videos with joe not playing guitar.

  • i love the ramones too, but be real, kid...ramones might sound like the clash, and the clash sounds just like the clash...

  • nah, the Ramones sound like the Ramones and the Clash sound like the Clash, that's how I feel, all in all they're all fuckin' great, right? Great performance!

  • one could argue that the ramones formed 2 years before the clash and the clash, the pistols and the damned formed right after a UK ramones concert

so, get your facts straight AND gtfo

also, the clash sound nothing like the ramones and vice versa

    ougk

  • what dvd is this from?

  • Man....that's a long way from "Rock the Casbah". Five years is an eternity in music.

  • Indeed. But Rock the Casbah is a classic in its own way =)

  • chanson d'ANTHOLOGIE, groupe de fou

  • q gran video y q gran cancion de la mejor banda de punk de la historia

  • The best video I 've ever seen in my life.
