crust punk is boring. in the 80s it could had a sense, but bands of today are just stupid clones, talkin 'bout same things playing in the same way...boring.
@TuaMadre7 your 21 years old what the fuck do you know about it, the things we sang about in the 80's are still happening, so why shouldn't new bands sing about it...
It is so weird what a night of boredom can lead too...
When I first discovered grindcore and the like about 2 years ago, I never thought it existed. I thought the most extreme music out there was death metal, but when I discovered this, I was blown away. It is all I listen too.
damn im so astonished and i think its so awesome there is so many underground seens living under every metalheads/punks nose HOLY SHIT ITS SO AMAZING!
@mrbelmont2000 crust punk is a development out of punk which tends to be anarchistic and political but more nihilistic than anarcopunk bands like crass or conflict. As far as sound crust is punk influenced by extreme metal but the more classic sound of crust is dbeat crust such as bands like doom, disrupt, or nausea
True, I cant get into the grindcore though, just not for me. Stoner rock and doom are my main two heavy genres tho. Ironically my fav genres are 90s hiphop and jazz but crust punk, ol skool hardcore punk and stoner rock are badass
Well, you know its kinda funny, metalheads think that grindcore is more related to punk, but punks think that grindcore is more related to metal XD, I think that is the crossline and crossover between underground punk and metal.
grindcore is punk. it's all in the name. hardcore that grinds.
napalm death, sore throat, etc... founders of the genre, those were bands that emerged out of the british crust punk scene
but then later on in america, bands like assuck and terrorizer started playing grindcore with an obvious death metal influence, and ever since there's been a lot of crossover between the 2 genres.
i hate it when people say grindcore is an extension of death metal though
Indeed, grind is extreme punk, but even napalm death got death metal influences specially in "Harmony of corruption", so Napalm Death mixed death metal and grindcore
@HammarHeart True, but some of its following genres like Deathgrind, Goregrind, and Pornogrind are more akin to Death Metal. Powerviolence is also related to Crust and Grind.
@HammarHeart Grindcore will always be an extension of crust punk no matter what people say but the early American Grind bands came out of the crossover thrash and crust punk scene at least the early ones like Anal Cunt, Repulsion, and to an extent Siege and Septic Death but i always considered those last two bands to be more Power Violence or thrashcore sounding than grindcore
@HammarHeart Your right, its just fast hardcore doubly fast and doubly brutal, but those characteristics, I find, place it in some kind of middle ground between metal and punk. The brutality of grind is purely metal but everyhting else about is so punk. Gotta love it whe RockNRolls two best children make such a beautiful baby
@Deathgrind740 most sub genres of metal like death and thrash etc... are HEAVILY influenced by hardcore punk and im sure there are "metal" bands out there who would say they are punk they just play a genre that is labeled as metal. dont quote me though lol.
I love FIlth. Other good bands: Assrash, Fleas&Lice, Fields Of Shit (that's the band of Jake Sayle after he left Filth, their lp is awesome),Grimple,Z,Disclose,Recharge and Logical Nonsense.
Antisect, i listen to them while i cook tofu. havent heard Axiom before. Capitali$t Casualties, bedtime musik. Disrupt, listen to them while eating vegan friendly ice cream. Dropdead, joggin musik. Dystopia, long ass songs but down ass fuck! Filth, total cliche name, musik is alright. Initial Detonation, :). No Security, give me gas. Skitsystem, so dark and mysterious, Uncurbed, darker and more mysterious.
actually, most of the time its the exact opposite man, anti-religious an shit, and no, their not racist man, bands like bathory and darkthrone and especially mayhem were all influenced by hardcore punk and crust with the anti- oppresion and anti-corruption
dude they fuckin hate nazi's man, obviously u havnt seen them live bro, they yell out all that shit, if anything its burzum thats a 'somewhat' neo nazi band, but regardless man they all influenced by punk/crust w/e
no their not. naziism isn't in any of the music i have listened to, and varg has changed his mind about racialism. as a lot of people do, he changed his ideals and opinions.
there's only one guy in the fucking band, which means it's actually Varg's solo project. and besides technically he's not a nazi he's an odalist (which is basicly the same thing) but he's still a racist asshole, but like i said before at least he doesn't use his music to spread his batshit ideology
bullshit, black metal is not rascist at all. And where do you get the idea that Black metal fans love violence? I love black metal and I am a pacifist, where did you hear those lies? don't believe the media dude.

Though I'm not into crust too much, I must recognise that its the only underground punk subgenre remaining, grindcore evolved from this.

@HammarHeart
Of course later grindcore has developed a much more extreme, death metal sound, and can also be considered metal.
Like stated, Napalm Death.
They're sound has very little remaining punk influence.
CrazyMetalZombie 2 years ago
@HammarHeart grindcore and correct me if i am wrong has a big influence on death metal and not the other way around..
