There is only a peaceful solution to this century-old problem, including two separate states of Palestina and Israel. And Israel will need to make (territorial) concessions. A more modest stance is in their own interest. Otherwise, I am not sure Israel will still exist in 20-30 years..
Of course, this does by no means justify the way Israel has been treating Palestinians. On the other hand, Palestinians (and other states supporting them) must stop fighting against Israel. Neither of the two parties is innocent. This conflict can be solved only by both refraining from violence and hate, and in negotiations led by the international community. Why does Israel bomb back? Why not just go and arrest the people responsible? Thats what soldiers and cops are for. Those rockets killed about 5 people and 2 of those were heart attacks. Palestinians who wanted to co-exist peacefully lived (and do live) in Israel. They were not kicked out, unlike the 850,000 Jews who were thrown out of Arab countries and the ~6 million Jews who were tortured and murdered. The problem is that strict Muslims don't seem to want peace. They want an Islamic-dominated universe, and they'll kill everyone and everything in their way.

You have no knowledge of the situation whatsoever. The area once (but not originally) known as Palestine has NEVER been an independent state or nation. Ever. Jews have lived on the land continuously for thousands of years. However, Arab nations did, in fact, kick out 850,000 Jews from their lands after WWII. There is no country of "Palestine." The Gaza Strip and other Muslim areas forbid any Jews living there, unlike Israel where Muslims can enjoy full benefits of citizenry.

Hamas started firing rockets after Israel's soldiers crossed the border and killed a group of their fighters. In violation to the ceasefire that Israel agreed to.
