  • COME ON! You're digging too deep! Either Disney didn't think of all the accusations you're making, or didn't think anyone would care (don't take that the wrong way; I'm defending Disney.). My money's on the first one. Stop accusing them of things they didn't intend!

  • actually she was so many years younger than the real john smith he would've been considered a pedifile if they would've really been more than friends. read instead of watching from time to time.

  • Err, have you considered that Disney was actually somewhat following the historical story of Pocahontas and some of the others? She was on friendly terms with Smith (even though, uhh, she was captured) but married John Rolfe in the end.

You have to look at the time period these princesses are from AND when these movies were made. I'm pretty sure Sleeping Beauty is from the 1950s...that's why Aurora isn't going off killing Maleficent like her prince.

  • Pocahontas was my favorite disney movie as a child and still is because of the lack of gender roles that she reaches. She is very strong and willing to make changes that need to be done to bring peace. I think that is what is lacking in society is that people create conflict over people who are different and they don't understand that there would be no conflict if they would just put aside roles as a demand. No one can live peacfully if we demand things of each other. (through gender and others)

  • Another thing missing from this interpretation of Pocahontas is that it fails to mention that the story is told through Western male eyes. Sure, she isn't blonde and doesn't have blue eyes, but Pocahontas adheres to the ideal notions of "white" beauty. Long hair, tall, thin. More ludicrous is the notion that she falls in love with a white older male. The overtones here mimic those of Lolita.

  • "If ariel could write her name in english why didn't she write to the prince instead of being mute"

    ^ this. XD

  • about Pocahontas:

since you decided to dig this deep. it is exactly what happens in life. Nothing worth having comes easy. and we don't know what happens after 'happily ever after' bit. it's up to the viewer to decide.

Also it's ridiculous! how can you add the race into it? when princess is blond/blue eyes, people are pissed off straight away. here she is not - still there are some problems! lol amazing!

p.s: when i was a kid, i found Pocahontas the most beautiful of them all, and i am white.

  • ummm, wat did u want them to do, make a fake ending? and she was the princess to begin with...it has nothing to do with color, tiana was darker than her and she got the prince, and pocahontas is a real story...STFU girl lol yall needa get lives and stop incorrectly interpreting disney movies

  • @sheenaur1stnhislast you have to admit its a least interesting that most all of the male disney heros are ripped, and villains are fucked up looking.

  • your voice is super nice :) but all of these things your saying are wrong

  • Honestly, as a female with self-respect, not rebellion. I actually enjoy the chivalry (aka, IMPOSING GENDER ROLES!). It's a lot more romantic, for starters. Also, it's much smoother, and everyone's happy. Guys like caring for the girls; girls like being taken care of. Simple as that.

  • Snow White is the First Disney movie princess ever and she does not have blonde hair, but black. Out of the nine Disney princesses, only three have blonde hair.

  • Do yourself a favor and read a freaking history book!

  • have u seen pocahontas 2?Are you atleast old enough to know she was a real person and that disney can't set her up with him cause she's he is not her true love john rolf is, you totally missed the point. Also ALL the princess had their defience moments and suffered and sacrificed for a happy ending. pocahontas wasn't unhappy. her apperence had nothing to do with her story look at jasmine. you mistake the cultures around the world that disney is preserving, as some kind of negative influence.

  • Your voice<3

  • Pocahontas is based on a historical event! I learned about it in a university prep American history E-Learning course. ^v^

  • It is a movie, A childrens movie it isn't suppose to make sense it is suppoe to be a story and something fun. Trust me, I work with kids, and none of them like like this.

  • You misinterpreted "Colours Of The Wind". She is a free spirit, but that's not what she communicates to John Smith. The song actually is trying to teach him her way of life, and the appreciation of nature she has learned in her life. The lesson she communicates at this point is not to be carefree and do what you want, but to respect other cultures.

  • I agree with DrEaMsOfAnOvEl, this is getting ridiculous. Our nation is softening up and, as I like to so, pussyfying because of these damn liberals trying to make people believe that these children's movies are brainwashing our kids. Grow the hell up!

  • Well what about Jasmine...she's not "white and blonde" and shes a main princess?

  • @COULDNTthinkNAMEOFa or tiana lol

  • @COULDNTthinkNAMEOFa and don't forget morgana, ariel, fiona, and the gipsy girl(wich name i forgot) from norte dame!

  • I think you have good ideas, but I'm not sure because your grammar is so awful...Sorry but I actually can't understand your run-on sentences.

  • Pocahontas makes me proud to be first nations :)

  • Really, guys? Really? You're arguing GENDER ROLES in DISNEY FILMS?! What is the world coming to? These movies were made back in the nineties and geared towards children and families. I highly doubt that Mr. Disney had the malicious intent of highlighting gender roles and stereotypes in his movies. You guys are so paranoid! Lighten up!

  • listen just because shes not like other princesss doens mean crap she is wise beyond her years and neeeds 2 not be critczizted 4 falling in love

  • Pocahontas is way pretty that other disney princesses well exempt ariel

  • When John smith landed in VA she was still a young girl of maybe 12 or 13 not some busty full grown teenager ( what's disney's problem) and why is she not one of he "main" Disney princesses like Cinderella?

  • @pinksbaby they changed it 2 have them fall in love

  • I'd marry KoKoum...he's sexxy!!! :)

  • @Lorisa214 Me too!

  • You are misinterpreting Pocahontas. She's not carefree, she is wise beyond her years and just enjoyed being fun or adventurous, because that is her personality. You said that she got into a feud with her father about Kocoum when she didn't. She didn't want to marry someone who was so different from her, not because she "dares to be different." Pocahontas knew she was needed home: she prevented a war, she loved John, but she stayed because she knew that and was not carefree or ignorant about it.

  • @xkrisadee Great argument, I agree with you.

  • @xkrisadee youre ignorant, the REAL pocahontas was a whore.

  • @xkrisadee yes but have you seen the second movie? my God the horror it brought upon me when I saw the change in her character.and in my opinion she should have been the leader of her tribe in the end,she played that role anyway.she needn't have fallen in love with Smith.in fact,I have a much less popular cartoon in which she is a little girl and smith is old and they're just friends.that would have been much better don't you think?

  • @xkrisadee Your right, this girl does not know what she is saying. When Pochahontas said to paint with the colors of the wind she was talking about living with nature. It's cultural. The European philosophy is to live of nature not with it, that's why they tend to destroy nature. Not is not what God wanted.

  • If this was an essay or assignment this totally gets an A+.

  • @emmasmith173 and good arguements

  • Prince Charming

  • great video, just annoying how the volume in your speech kept jumping up and down each statement.

  • This is the best, the most objective one of all of the"Disney's gender typing" here in youtubeland. Congrats!

  • this turned out really good, thanks for putting it together Bernard :)
