  • i remember the old day's back from the 70" s when i had to be carefull not to trip or un hook that cord from my guitar, oh boy i'm getting old lol

  • If I heard right, the band made a mistake during the solo which forced Michael to play a part of it twice. 2:03

  • Great Solo

  • If you jammed on this like I did in the 80's, you are probably 50+ like me. Does this make you want to go buy a four finger bag?

  • @purplesageify lmao, Today if you went to buy a four finger bag it cost as much as buying 3 oz. back in the day. And it's not half as good. I just save up and buy a oz. of hydro and make it last as long as I can, few big bong hits and Im good for for a while.

  • @purplesageify

I was jamming on Rockbottom and Doctor, Doctor in the mid 70s when the stuff first came out.

I used to get a # of Colombian for what an oz goes for today. The best thing was it was different every time and would get gold, rainbow or chiba. That was the shit. Kids, today, have no fucking clue about music or weed. I guess it's the same with real cars or guitars.

  • yer missing out if you don't love this shit......

  • Its live! Yeah the band blew it but trainwreck averted. That was a long time ago in the early days of UFO. Today's artists couldn't tour and rock like the old school bands from the 70's and 80's. You had to nail it everynight with no net. It wasn't processed and canned bulls....

  • Its live! Yeah the band blew it but trainwreck averted. That was a long time ago in the early days of UFO.

  • The band blows it on his solo and he has to repeat the melodic part.

  • One of the first bands to make to make it through the Iron Curtain. And paved the way for everyone else. T

hey kicked ass then, and the jams still stand up.

  • anyone who can't dig this is not on the right path. no one can say anything against this unless they have the cahonays to play something that comes anywhere close to being this good....if you don't like any instrument of music,(as in PIANO)... you have a serious malady...a factory defect..send yourself back to your manufacturer and give us the refund. hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete at the same time and you will see the light. there's no account for taste...8]

  • No f*cking piano or similar! Voted down!

  • Yeah !!!

  • i just played this tune with all my kids, daughter on drums, 2 sons on bass/guitar, me singin, my oldest daughter on bass. it was epic. and they know what good music is now for sure

  • Look at this muthuhfucuh play guitar..... LOOK at this mothuh fuquar play guitar!!!!! LOOK AT this mutha fucqure play guitarrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!! I really have got to get a fast car out of here!

    Peace & fucge,

    Supuhflawd

  • @suprflawd wtf did you just say lol

  • @AssultKarma Sorry i get a little excited and carried away... um.. Schenker brothers are both such kick ass guitar players in supuh bands..... oops i better stop now cuz i'm starting to make up words again lol : )

  • @suprflawd xD

  • Yeah Right On!!! I love UFO. OMG what good times at UFO concerts with other kick ass bands like Triumph and ..... um fuck! what were we talking about..... oh yeah Rock and fucking Rooooolllll!!!!!

Peace my brothers and sisters : )

  • On the live album there are two guitars in the lineup.

  • @marvy1118 They added Paul Raymond who played Keys and Guitar. That was a great line up with Raymond

  • man that was a great recovery...the lead break almost fell apart. I saw the base player try to make eye contact and Michael looked up for a second but Micheal pulled the plane up real fricking quick

  • Bass player fell asleep during the solo.

  • @marvy1118 Pete Way will do as he pleases.

  • this is truly one of the greatest songs by UFO. Love it, even after all these years.

    UFO, still going strong............

  • Great Band

  • Comment removed

  • Dynamite stuff! Saw UFO with Foreigner and AC/DC(when they had Bon Scott.) Hell of a show!

  • Great stuff, real music, not that shit you hear nowadays!

  • what year was this

  • @rmf09020 1976

  • Wow, the Keyboards missed the key change in the middle of the lead. Don't get me wrong, UFO is my favorite all time band, but Schenker is what made this band.

  • 60's, 70's, 80's, early 90's. all those decades i wish i experienced. I have realized that the year of my birth, real music died. damn 1995......

  • Apologies if someone has mentioned this already (I'm not trawling through all the comments) but PM gets the verses wrong way round, or was he lead into it by the rest of the band?

  • great track off one of the best lps of the 70s

  • WTF ever happened to Rock and Roll--I have not heard a rock song in the last 20 years--All you hear are these sensitive little crybabies with a kmart guitar singing about sunrises and loving their daughters and stupid girls like delilah that most guys back in the 80's would bang and then hope they would not see them in their Psych 101 class the next day.

Hey sensitive boy. I fucked Delilah--then let all my buddies bang her. Delilah has 4 kids and looks like the chick from misery now.

  • @freethedungeons Yeah man, right on. Haha

  • Is this song sorta about the same thing "Dude Looks Like A Lady" is about?

  • @ironbuttermilk Get the album dude. Damn.

  • THIS IS SO AWESOME........ SO CLASSIC AND SO ROCK!!!!!!

thanks much for sharing this!! :)

    JD

  • I saw them in 77 in Chicago - Soldier field - Lights out tour, new songs from not yet released Obsession (I remember, Cherry)Paul Chapman guitarist, reason..MS's first of a string disappearing acts..Then Lights out a year later, never got to see UFO/Schenker but did see MSG

  • Saw UFO open for Ozzy 2 weeks before Randy Rhoads crashed....Paul Chapman on guitar....didn't even know who Randy was ......I was blown away...one of the best shows I'll ever see and I've seen a few

  • mastart85 already said that..., good ears!

  • nice! but hear the bassist play the wrong part at the beginning of the guitar solo- oops! schenker is awesome and so is moog -- (i guess mastart already caught that...

  • nice! but hear the bassist play the wrong part at the beginning of the guitar solo- oops! schenker is awesome and so is moog -- (i guess mastart already caught that...

  • nice! but hear the bassist play the wrong part at the beginning of the guitar solo- oops! schenker is awesome and so is moog

  • Thank God I grew up in the era of UFO & not today's insipid, Simon Cowell/boyband/rap bullshit.

  • dayum, this sheeot fn rocks!!!!!!!!!!! ok, I'm alright now.

  • Gold.

  • What ever happened to R&R, this is the best, todays shit is just that, shit.

  • @witchman1 I'm with you brother! These so-called bands you hear now can't light a f'n candle to old ones like this---especially live! If most of them ever had UFO warm up at their shows, they'd be too embarrassed to come out to play their own set.

  • @witchman1

There's still good stuff. But nobody knows it because those bands don't get big record deals, so they have to stay in the underground.

  • thats so funny the band was off on the solo they cant keep up with the master

  • Schenker's great, but Peyronnel is crap! I'd swap the two for Raymond and Moore anyday..

  • Yeah, OK. Ha Ha

  • lizzy and ufo...god i love them......rip philly

  • Comment removed

  • GO NOW. They are on tour. STRONG and amazing. Do NOT put this off! An amazing band - and the nicest guys you'll ever meet.

  • can all the other fuckin idiots on this page just write about ufo and how good they are...where the hell did this shit come from about ozzy he is a completely differaint type of music to ufo appreciate ufo and shut the fuck up about anything else....thank you...and for the record ozzy is class o.k

  • THE MOST UNDERATED BAND OF THE 70`S!!! They still sound as good today as they did then!!!

  • Ozzy???

He cant smell where Michael pisses.

He doesn't have the heart that Schenker's guitar or Moog's voice is all about.

    He's all head banger nonsense.

Go bite the head off a bat....I'd rather listen to moving vocals and soul feeling guitar....

  • I'm 15 and I love Shenkers style. I wonder how far shanker could have gone if Ozzy had let him join his band.

  • No no the other way aroud, MS turned down Ozzy because Ozzy didnt have the money that MS asked for.

  • your dealing with way too retro stuff for your age... its good though... keep it up.

  • if Schenker had agreed to join the Stones

or Aerosmith as they offered, he'd be famous or dead. Good thing he didn't join!

  • I just can't imagine Schenker in the Stones.

  • ''Free 'Live' ...... all above are sound too!

  • I fucking love "Free 'Live', too bad that Free is forgotten now. Long live Paul Kossoff

  • MAN THIS SONG ROCKS

  • Suzuki is fasrer than Harly

  • I blame the mess up at 2.04 on Pete, he was always messin stuff up but you forgive him coz he is the legend that is Pete Way and i hope he gets well soon. Seen him in January and his bass packed in completely so he just sang along with Fin, only Pete can get away with that

  • Who cares?...Find Pete and find the band...

  • The change is at 8 measures not 4. Schenker was right, Way was coked!

  • Who really gives a fuck?

  • Paul Raymond owns that keyboard player.

  • chuche1963 live never goes as planed epecially if you got a buzz on. eh.

  • No schenker was right man. The change was at 4 measures.

  • The bass player fucked up the solo at 2:04 - 2:10. He didn't do the chord change with Mike so he played the riff twice. The drums were there with him though. How bizzare.

  • Actually I think Schenker came in too early there, not Way & Parker too late.

  • even better than studio.

  • UFO was always a better live act than on record, except for LIGHTS OUT. Glad I caught them in the 1970s, when they shone with Schenker.

  • Really, ever heard "Force It" or "Phenomenon". And Stranger in the Night is the best rock live album of the 70"s along with the Scorpions "Tokyo Tapes".

    UFO was great on record.

  • I'm with you on STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT: Seventies live rock never rocked harder, and "natural thing" still burns 30 years later.

  • Kingofthedeep is right on...Great studio band and just as good LIVE! SITN is one of the best LIVE albums ever!

  • best live album: Deep Purple Made in Japan

  • I have all 3 of them Tokyo Tapes, Stranger in the Night and Made in Japan. The guitar work on Made in Japan is pale compared to the other 2.

    Not even close.

  • Best live album : Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous.

  • best live album of all times QUEENSRYCHE operation live crime, 91! i was there! still the top concept album of all times, was way ahead of its time, master musicians at the very top of there game, and rewrote how mean dueling leads can be, by useing great harmonies and doing it so seemleslly you have 2 see it to believe it!

  • Zero improvisation disqualifies most bands from greatest anything talk. Thin Lizzy were one of the rare few who took the stage without every note being etched in stone. In their arrangement guitars are woven... they're not composed and played with machine like precision as with a Metal band. Also, a Metal band is almost always Metal. Elements from other forms of music (Blues, Funk, Soul, Gospel,Country) are rarely if ever heard. I do like Queensyrche though....seen em 3 times....: )

  • lol, ive also seen lizzy 3 times, luv them 2 death, along with wishbone ash another dueling leads pioneer, the 70s were great butt the birth of neo-classical, by yjm turned metal upside down, and developed many technx, that hadnt beeh seen befor, the late meistro m. kamman was a true champion of metal in the classical world, and his work with q-ryche, proved so dramatic 4 me that after all the great concerts ive seen, it left the most lasting impression, over wakemans concepts! and the who.

  • check out my friend young MATTRACH, hes the 62nd most subed musician on youtube, just turned 18 was sponsered by fender last yr. he has over 40 originals on here with him playing all instruments, he a true musical genius, in the vain of our idols, hes taken the 52 tele into a whole new realm like no one ever has, hes touring europe now, with many big name artist, hes a very rare bird and the product of all forms and styles, hes truelly unique, if u havent heard him yet give him a listen!!\nn/

  • UFO has the greatest hard rock songs.

  • Strangers in the Night and Tokyo Tapes were the best hard rock live albums of the 70's. Yes I have Live and Dangerous and love it as well. But that album is second to the before mentioned. If you haven't heard them I'm sorry. Those 2 albums were as hard and melodic as it gets. "Live" is awesome too though.

  • queensryche. LOL. Not even.

  • that other dude said it all...the live double-album 'strangers in the night' is great

  • I had never heard of this band until i saw an interview with Bon Scott on youtube. Now i am discovering them for the first time. I think I like it! Any die hard fans have some recommendations for a new convert?

  • Their live album-Strangers in the Night. One of the best live albums ever.

  • Phenominah is a good studio recording. And "Lights Out" is another great live recording.

  • m schenker and ufo are pure class.

  • r those green pants?

  • She said shoot, shoot, shoot it boy

  • When people talk about ufo they always talk about Schenker or Chapman, but ya know, without Phil Mogg its nothing. Phil is UFO not the axe men

  • Loved this group as a kid. Wierd to see a video now. UFO is part of the reason I make music a career.

  • I meant LATE seventies.

  • Last night was 8-2-08 and I went to see UFO. They still can can rock but Vinnie Moorer is no Schenker. They are 30 years older from the first time I saw them but I too have gotten 30 years older.

  • these guys could flat out rock.

  • I read that Marshall made the JCM 800 to be able to easily produce Schenker's distinctive midrange-heavy guitar sound. That tells you how good someone is when an amp is made TO SOUND LIKE THEM.

  • Right. I know all about this. Schenker's early tone was so sought after in the lae seventies, that Marshall decided to add a gain stage in the preamp and place RC networks between them to roll off the frequencies below 720hz. This gave a very midrangey sound, but was still not as good as a half-cocked wah through a non-master marshall.

  • I know no one will know this guy but Wally Stocker of the Babys. Not an intrusive guirtar to the sond....Had the feel to fill a room with one chord...soo tasty

  • thank you gary moore, also mick ronson , so many people dont have a clue....

  • Schenker is one of the top 10 guitarists ever...Heres my list of amazing guitarists, not because they are technically good, but for feel. Hendrix, Page, Blackmore, May, Townsend (rhythym) , The Edge (tenchnical),Skunk Baxter, Gilmore (feel), Prince (amazing), Elliot Easton (tasty Licks), Gary Moore, Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughn,Randy Rhodes,Mick Ronson, and of course amazing Michael Schenker for amazing tone, tasy licks and technical skill..I know I missed a ton but please add to the list

  • Some of my favorites to add to the list: Joe Satriani (Solo), Steve Vai (Solo), Frank Zappa (Solo), Scott Gorham (Thin Lizzy), Larry Reinhardt (Captain Beyond), K.K. Downing (Judas Priest), Michal Wilton (Queensryche), Gary Green (Gentle Giant), Robin Trower (Solo), Adrian Belew (King Crimson)

  • Well I would add that Larry Rheinhardt, who I've met, was the guitarist of a much much much more important band than the lowly forgotten-about Capt. Beyond. I'm talking the band that INVENTED heavy metal, Iron Butterfly! Oh yeah, BTW, UFO still sucks. They sound like a garage band who should've stayed there. Complete amateurs. They never really made it big and they certainly didn't deserve to.

  • Your a dumbass

  • Well, at least I know how to spell "You're". At least you spelled dumbass correctly, which I guess makes you a lot smarter than most UFO fans! If you keep saying "UFO is great", then maybe you'll start believing your own untruths. They're an embarrassment to Kenneth Arnold, George Adamski, Bruce Macabbee, Bob Lazar, and especially Bill Moore! Give me Blackmore, Box, Buxton, and Pinera over that hack Schenker any day. I'd even say Zhenya or Z-Rock as he's known today is better than MS.

  • Do you REALLY think Schenker is a hack? Come on,you must be joking.

  • ignorance is bliss....

  • You know man, i just disagree with your bashing of UFO, its pointless. I think its distasteful and dishonest. Captain Beyond recorded three albums and played perhaps three concerts. UFO recorded one of the greatest live records of all time, this is not an opinion its a set in stone FACT! Noone needs to read your ridiculous opinions, i unfortunatly did. Please correct all my spelling and send me a report card.

  • So What? ufo is about romantic, sexy hardrock. Ain`t to many band doing it better. peace

  • SUCK MY BALLS KYLE AND amazingpornoqueen

  • Schenker smokes!

  • Couldn't agree more... Great taste dudde! Keep on!

  • UFO Rules..! The best hard rock band ever, together with Uriah Heep, Blue Öyster Cult, Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin. Others are good too (Nazareth, Foghat, Montrose, etc.), but one step below them...

I like also the "one-disk" masterpieces: Armagedon and Lucifer's Friend ...

  • Wow!!! Well this is a person who knows a lot about rock music. Say no more. I never heard anybody mantion Lucifers friend before, except you. Nobody knows about them. John Lawton rules

  • Hello Michael..! Thx...For me, the first Lucifer's Friend album should be ranked among the top 10 hard rock albums of all time. I think I'm gonna share a video from it here because I have the CD's and the vinyl also...And yes, John Lawton is one of the God's of rock vocal, together with David Byron and Robert Plant...Rock and Roll..!

  • oh hammet rocks.. bet ur ass he does LOL.. yep..i agree..

  • ZYVZX, right i just sat here for 30 or so seconds readin you rantin on, and i want my time back cos ur an ass. scorpion kicked ass, but so did metallica, and unlike a lot of metal bands their was a level of groove and melody in what he played (granted not so much now but..), whether you like him or not you cant go around callin hammet an amateur without expectin to get a punch from amateurs like me are still practicin to get to hammets level. now shut up noone wants to listen to you, your a twit

  • good run on sentence, einstein. fuck, hammett is still a bonehead player, nice guy, but lacking.

  • A Grammar Nazi eh?

By the way Einstein, fuck & Hammett should be capitalized!

    ps: So should good.

Don't get pissed at me,i'm just having some fun. :)

  • MSG Rocks

  • Ahh the 70's..when you actually had to be able to play, sing, and write in order to be in a band.

  • Comment removed

  • I broke my bass playin' teeth on these guys, even before Schenker. But Schenker made that band come alive.

    God Bless You voodoosix !

  • Too bad Blackmore never wrote a song or solo like Rock Bottom. Schenker was 18 at the time. I dont care how long a song is. A good song is a good song, regardless of how long it is.

  • What about Hendrix? I dont have time to debate this stuff, got better things to do.

  • Checkout Leo Kotke" Vaseline Machine Gun" from the 70's TV show. What do you think? 3-4 minute songs, most if not all of his.

  • Irrelevant yes they just write great rock songs. Tokyo Tapes rips from start to finish with no rest in between check it out.

I guess you only like DP cause they write songs that are long. And that proves to you they aren't commercial.Your weird, I just dig great tunes.

  • Sorry your a little blind. Length of song is irrelevant. I love DP but prefer UFO and 70's Scorpions. You don't have Phenomenon or Force It do you. Or Tokyo Tapes. None of their songs sound alike and rock and have melodic ripping solos.

  • great vid.thanx.i wouldnt want to do without any of the bands mentioned.they all did great things at one time or another.

  • great vid.thanx.i wouldnt want to do without any of the bands mentioned.they all did great things at one time or another.

  • Blackmore could never write a song like Captain Nemo or Into the Arena. Schenkers solos rule as does Uli's with the Scorp's.

You need to get Tokyo Tapes and Strangers in the Night.

  • I have lots of Deep Purple,UFO and 70's Scorpions. You obviously don't. None of their songs sound alike unlike DP. I love DP/Blackmore but I prefer 70's Scorp's and UFO if I had to pick 2.Tokyo Tapes and Strangers in the Night is much better than Made in Japan. You need to pick up the 1st 4 UFO/Scorpions albums/cd's and check it out.

  • 70's Scorpions and UFO blow away Deep Purple

  • thank you...still the best.

  • of all the bands that you could accuse of whatever the hell you mean by poppy hair metal...it's obvious you have some kind of personal grudge here, or you really do know nothing.

  • Mogg thought his sister's shirt was pretty. This is just before Schenker stopped using his sister's beret'e in his hair.

I'm 46 and I will always cherish this band.

  • What a pleasantly toxic, totally original, addictive guitar riff from the band from another planet. We wore out side 4 of "Strangers in the Night" listening to the live versions of "OYCRM"," I'm a Loser',"Let it Roll"&"Shoot,Shoot" in the 70's. The emotional vibe of that guitar passage totally synchronized with Moggs' morally ambiguous "pulp fiction" short story lyrics. The moronic debate re. "Who is Greater" on the previous comment pages however is unpleasantly toxic, & patently unoriginal.

  • Best band in the world.

  • The Schenker and Blackmore debate. Schenker at 17 and 18 put out Phenomenon and Force It. Better than any one album DP ever made.I love DP and Blackmore but Schenker was it.

  • UFO had a following, I was one..they didn't get airtime, or the observance they deserved...they were big for kids at the end of the 70's.

  • I love UFO, they were great

  • One thing you are right about is that DP draws sell out crowd but what I am trying to tell you is that UFO was a better band meaning vocally and on guitar. I rest my case.

  • you are so correct...deep purple was great...but we all like ufo much more....saw ufo 4 times and deep purple only once

  • I fuckin grew up listening to DP and Blackmoore who I thought was the ultimate guitar hero along with Hendrix, Page and Clapton and then I herd UFO and MSG and hell he owns all of them hands down...and the rest is history. Dont get stuck on DP like I did in the 80's

  • Well Mr. Douchbag it was Schenker that made Blackmoore disappeared between 72 to 84 where was Blackmoore. Schenker offered something new can Blackmoore play or even compose anything like "Into The Arena", Captain Nemo, Bijou Pleasurete etc...I dont think so thats why he was nowhere. Hell DP even offered Schenker the spot hell DP's new guitarist is even better than Blackmoore

  • Your full of shit. Blackmore never made an album as good as Force It and Schenker was 19 at the time. I like Blackmore to but Force It is an all out hard rock assault with tremendously melodic solos.

  • Planet Rock only plays Rock Bottom, Doctor Doctor and occasionally Lights Out but this is right up there with them for me.

  • Planet Rock?

  • Digital Radio Station in the UK. Alice Cooper does the breakfast show ! It available on the net also.

  • Thanx dude. I guess I will start listening to it.

  • Dude this is not "poppy hair metal". That "poppy" part is called a chorus.

  • Watch at 02.02 when Schenker ends his solo, Danny Peyronel keeps playing the solo backing. Schenker counters beautifully and around 02.14 Peyronel and Pete way are looking to get out of the shit..and Schenker gives the signal at 02.15 and off they go.

This was a great band and Strangers in the Night is about as good as live albums come..Thanks for posting this clip..awesome..

  • first saw them live last year... they still got it. UFO rocks!

  • UFO KICKS FUCKING ASS!

  • I'm 42 now & I got into UFO when I was 14. I still love them as much now as I did back then. It's in the blood. I just can't get excited over todays bands but this era of rock music still launches my rockets. Thanks for the great video

  • Hey you should check out Diamond Head's old stuff. One of the few bands with a guitarist/vocalist team who could actually hold their own against Mogg/Schenker.

  • Schenker's tone has alot of balls...

  • he was so fuckin good i wanna cry...yes im saying was...

  • What great taste in music you have at your age. UFO is so underappreciated. Their songwriting is so far ahead of most 70's-80's hard-rock/metal artists.

  • AGREED!

  • UFO are SOOOO my fave band!!!!

Im 14 and Im a HUGE HUGE FAN!!

  • good choice man...Schenker rocks man

    oh and UFO too

  • lol!

I woulda love to have seen them back then...

  • Good choice. I have all UFO vinyl. Love these guys and at 14 your taste is right on!

  • Thank you very much! ;)

I hav Strangers in the night live, best of, and sumother one on vinyl

  • Argue guitar gods all you want

This is a great old clip

    and

If there way never a Pete Way how much would Nikki Sixx's stage act be different?

  • Awesome!
