Have you watched the whole series? If you watch the whole series it starts to make more sense. At first it was difficult to watch but then I got into it. But overall the theme is, for me anyway, that even though they are constrained and limited b/c of the various canes, crutches, etc that they don't let that hold them back and in fact they find a way to incorporate those elements and form them into an artistic vision. I.e. don't let anything hold you back!
