  • there are few glee performances that truly bring me to tears.

    this is one of them.

  • Yea you won't hear many women sing that last note. Incredible.

  • WOW! Kristin Chenoweth is the best singer out there. She can sing anything and sing it very well. Such emotion in that angelic voice - Love It! The "Cheno note" on the end is superb. Her stage show needs to be put on DVD. Hey PBS/Sony -It would be a hot seller. --- A song has no better friend than Kristin Chenoweth!

  • The first time I heard this song, I absolutely adored it, but I didn't know what it was from. Then I joined a community theatre production of "The Wiz". Then I saw this episode and when it got to this song, I was like "HOLY SHIT! THAT'S FROM THE WIZ! OMFG!" Our opening night is tonight. Wish us luck!

  • I love glee and this song is "one" of the best song on glee. I just love the Cheno note at the end.

  • Yep THE WIZ

  • I want her voice.. dammmn it's so prettttttty and strong..

  • Cheno note...!!!

  • 1:30

now you dont have to wait the minute and thirty seconds to hear the song.

  • Amber Riley sang this at the white house. I wish they had let her sing it on the show. Or at least give her something other than r&b and hip hop. Make her more than a stereotype.

  • Amazing Kristin.. nobody sings it like you girl!

  • She is just amazing.

  • That high note at the end always gets me.

  • @PutanXonitBoii That killer last high note is simply epic.

And is totally Kristin Chenoweth-like, because in the original, or in the Diana Ross Version, as far as I know, there's no such note :B

    Kristin is <3

  • I worship her.

  • Kristen Chenoweth is an American Treasure! One of the very best ever. Folks in Oklahoma must be very proud of Kristen and Kelli O'hara (she's great, too).

  • @sevets2000 We are very proud of her!

  • SQEE! I LOVE HER VOICE!

  • stephanie Mills -bway; diana ross - film; melinda doolittle (idol,) whitney (merv griffen show) everyone else in concert

  • gives me chills

  • So, I found out there's only one degree of separation between Kristin and I :) I'm a friends with someone who grew up with her in Oklahoma!!! :D I FLIPPED OUT. Yea, I'm raiding on their family get togethers, because apparently they still see eachother when their both in OK.

  • chills. all over my body.

  • i luv this song and the movee the wiz! i luv mike as the scarecrow. u gotta watch jasmine sullivan sing this...shes the bomb singer!

  • @Gleelooodoyle

no stupid its from Promises, Promises.

Kristen Chenoweth sings it in the Revival of it which is now on Broadway.

    Get your facts straight.

  • diana ros sings it a million times better in da wiz

  • @andreyxxbetch which totally makes sense b/c in the previous scene April says she's going to put on the first all white production of "The Wiz."

  • diana ross saing it origanally from the wiz

  • @Meguna13 No, she didn't. Stephanie Mills sang it originally in the stage version of "The Wiz." The movie is based on the play.

  • Who are the three dummies who mistook the dislike button for the like button?

  • @andreyxxbetch

    ik i see that now

  • Loved hearing the choir @4:50

  • Cheno is a goddess..

  • @HisSweetie188 totally agree

  • It's from The Wiz. And btw. its KRISTIN not KristEN.

  • @Gleelooodoyle No stupid its from the Wiz

  • @Gleelooodoyle Nope. It's from "The Wiz" and Stephanie Mills sang it originally.

  • @Gleelooodoyle

wrong. its from the wiz :D

  • @Gleelooodoyle

no stupid its from Promises, Promises.

Kristen Chenoweth sings it in the Revival of it which is now on Broadway.

  • @Gleelooodoyle OMG........ WOW

  • @Gleelooodoyle - OMG Gleelooodoyle, I can tell you're a young person, your reference point is "The Heights", from the 90's right? Which I know to you is probably really old. But actually, this song was first featured in the Broadway musical, "The Wiz" way back in the year of 1975, sung by then, 15 year old Stephanie Mills, I was 1 years old. :)

Then 3 years later, in 1978, Motown bought the rights, & made a full length feature adaptation. However in the movie, Diana Ross sings this song.

  • @vegasbaby92

yea ur correct :) and just for that ima sub to you :)

  • @vegasbaby92 actually she was 18 :) but still very very wonderful and impressive!

  • @vegasbaby92 though I agree with you on this. It is from The Wiz but Gleelooodoyle's reference point if from the musical "In the Heights" not "The Heights". "In the Heights" is a very good musical an you should check it out if you have not already.

  • @vegasbaby92 ok forget my comment above you are right! grins!

  • @Gleelooodoyle no the original is from The Wiz sung by Diana Ross!

  • @babyhlouisex It's in "The Wiz"

  • @babyhlouisex Stephanie Mills from 'The Wiz' I believe :)

  • @babyhlouisex it's from the wiz

  • @babyhlouisex

    Its from the Wiz

  • @babyhlouisex HOME is from the play THE WIZ. Stephanie Mills sang it orginally on broadway and re-recorded it in 1989; in the movie version Diana Ross performed it.

  • @babyhlouisex U MUST BE WHITE smh...

Its from The Wiz by The GREAT Diana Ross

  • @gogo245

Diana Ross is not the original singer of this song

  • @babyhlouisex Diana Ross in "The Wiz" with Michael Jackson. "The black version of "The wizard of Oz".

  • @utubebear33 michael jackson didn't sing this

  • @babyhlouisex Diana Ross and Stephanie Mills

  • @babyhlouisex STEPHANIE MILLS

  • @babyhlouisex Diana Ross sang the original in the movie "The Wiz" where in michael Jackson played the scarecrow

  • Thanks!
