hey Pete wtf do you have against european style lol,you were all swearing that dashboard ha ha.ha.hey,don't get me wrong,I know it is hard work to get the job done the right way but you were so funny,by the way that vw came out awesome!
i just got a 70 karmann ghia car with no motor. should the motor be put in it first or should i get do the bondo and paint job first? my dad says to get the motor put in first. not sure i agree.
i just got a 1964 convertable karmann ghia i cant wait to finish it i just got my transmission back ang just finished lowering it i wanted to know what sive motor i should put???
If it was me, I would put in a 1776 cc dual port.. Make sure your trans is a late model, 66 and up, or if your using the orginal, you will have to change the flywheel, or modifie your trans housing to except a 12 volt flywheel.. Thanks Pete
@swrnc There will always be a need for folks like Pete..make sure you appreciate them and pay them on time..it's a tough job!! and Pete take care of your health so you can enjoy the fruits of your labor some day. Jerry
@detroitbluesguy Im still trying to keep up with the veggys in life...I think the Fruit truck got lost on the highway somewhere and delivered the goods to the wrong address... Pete
nice going Pete, btw how long is it before you post the vids and actully shooting them? just curious.
As for the basecoat, you do your final metallic / pearl base wet and let it settle.
i do my last met / base coat as a drop or light coat, guess they both work, mostly the drop coats depend on colour match if its a colission repair,
tell you what is great for pearl, put a weeeeeny bit in the first clear coat, ohh it makes the pearl go bananas in the sun as it gets hit and lit better in clear
Yes for blending, the dry coat last works well, and it does let the pearl flow out. I have found on an overall job, the wet coat works well, so you don't end up with streeks and blotches.......Like you said, either way will work. Just personal preferance.... thanks Pete
Watching these videos is like watching a tv series on TV... "he cant possibly put the clear coat on in under a minute... noooo it will be a to be continued " ;)
are you kiding?lol that video is gonna be at least 10 minutes long, i hope, with the car in the sun and him talking about it , i know cause im spying him across the street, just kidinglol youre right this is a tv show, im here every day , nice job Pete
can't wait to see htis one DONE! Funny thing is I've been painting my bug since around the same time you started on this car, but your pulling ahead. lol
At my shop we use a kerosene heater for the booth i remember last winter when i forgot to check how much was left in the tank it ran out shot a oil cloud in the booth and got fisheyes in the clear my boss was pissed but now he just laughs about it
yow pete, could you show us a basic spraygun-handling tutorial of some kind? Nothing too fancy. i'd like to paint my offroading-truck, so it doesn't have to be professional-quality. thanks dude
