Got a stupid question for you. If blades were forbidden for the non-bushi in the Edo period. . ..what distinguished the difference between Katans and shikomi-zues that would allow a non-bushi which I am assuming Zatoichi is, or correct me if I am mistaken on that thought. . . to carry a cane sword which if it is anything like the one shown in this movie. .sure looks like a blade to me?
