The Alternate Universe was formed sometime prior to the American Revolution. This would account for them being unfamiliar with Jackson. However, I can't determine when exactly our universes split exactly. Please, Fringe Writers, give us some more history on the alternate universe!
walter is a fucking genius who created a machine that can see alternate universe which is called a spy device is a very cool and i wouldnt be surprise if the observers gave him that techology to see what would happen in the future with peter. i wonder what my alternate self would be doing in that world hehe.
The spying device that Walter invented to look into the alternate universe is very cool.
My opinion is that all these mess are not Walter's fault. I think the Observers have plans and they are the ones responsible for the instabilities in the prime and alternate universes.
@eliotgascoyne If you really watched the second season, you too will have seen that Walternate's reason for wanting to destroy our world is because he's a bitter fool; rather than because he has a good reason to. He deceives the people of his own universe and makes them believe "we want to invade them" - while it's really the other way around.
Logically, it would be WAY smarter for both worlds to coorperate and attempt to fix the problem together. Walternate is too biased.
I sat here for 3 minutes admiring the look on the generals' faces when they saw the other side...... When I came here to watch the 1985 fringe opening. lol. xD
@mabiniss2 2x15 Peter. It will be spoilery though, you may want to watch both seasons to understand the whole thing better, after all, it's a pretty amazing series ;)
Genetic Engineering?, Virtual Reality? and my favorite: Personal Computing. LOVE how this title sequence features ideas that were revolutionary in 1985.
Walter [OLD GUY], is still the same in 25 years, and still the best in Fringe. Old Fringe? Well, you got HD there from 1985, hahaha, what pro technology.
@Melville10 Yeah, what most people who can't sing use nowadays to be able to. Peter was one of my favorite episodes, absolutely flawless. It's a shame John Noble didn't get an Emmy, he deserved one already just for this episode. Can't wait for Season 3!
@alexkinney87 If they had digital technology earlier it stands to reason that they probably developed autotune much earlier than in our reality! eighies synth pop married with autotune a possibility!
i have a theory. later in the series they say that when Walter took Peter thats ehen the realities warped. i think not. since they were already different there has to be some other event that caused this. i think that the universes were the same until something happened and caused the universe to split one more advanced ond one less. and that is why the observers are here, to observe the natural consequnces of the split and they mustnt interfiere. but its just a theory. Thumbs up if you agree.
@mrstarwarsfanboy It's not that Walter taking Peter is what caused the universes to be different, it's that Walter taking peter is what caused the Other Side to get the vortexes and general instability.
@spacehelmetforacow I still think it's quite absurd. So because ONE guy from our side messed up; the other side thinks we ALL deserve to die? Typical TV-show logic, I guess.
@TimothyParadox1 Considering it's a choice between letting their universe be destroyed and destroying ours, it isn't that illogical a choice.
Sure, It's not exactly nice, but given the choice between letting yourself and everyone you know die, or letting a bunch of people who *look* like you but aren't the 'real' you die, which would *you* pick?
As far as the Other Side can tell, there's no way to fix both universes, it's either theirs gets destroyed or ours does. (That's what Walternate was using the Machine for, shifting the Other Sides instabilities into our universe to "ease the pressure" on theirs.)
@spacehelmetforacow I see. By the way, what could be considered "destroying our universe"? I don't suppose earth is enough, seeing as how the universe is immensely big. How do they even plan to completely vaporise our planet?
@TimothyParadox1 Walter's going to the other side broke their universe causing the vortexes (the big black hole-loke thingies the Amber was invented to stop). Using the Machine, they can somehow reroute the vortexes and other damage from their universe to ours, saving their world at the cost of ours.
However, in Fringe, the Alternate Universe has invented stuff called "Amber 31422", (a substance that starts off as a think white fog, but solidifies into a resinous, Amber-like substance, hence its name) that is used to seal off areas that have or may become Vortexes: areas where the fabric of reality has been torn and micro black hoes have formed.
Such areas are described as "Ambered zones" (A large chunk of Alternate Boston has been Ambered.)
@mrstarwarsfanboy i agree. some event propelled there tech decades beyond ours. perhaps roswell wasnt coverd up. or abe lincoln wasnt assassinated. who knows.
this Peter story was very interesting and very moving ,I think ,and we learn how Walter made his son come back , we now know how Walter used the technology ,amazing !

@Alexplus20 those are called lense flares, they are a lighting effect that give specific things a more cinematic quality

@mrstarwarsfanboy
They were already different because that's the point of parallel universes. They're all different from each other in some way.
You can't have two parallel worlds that are exactly the same, that would just defeat the point :P
JamieHowitt 1 year ago
@mrstarwarsfanboy It's not that Walter taking Peter is what caused the universes to be different, it's that Walter taking peter is what caused the Other Side to get the vortexes and general instability.
That's why the Other Side is so pissed at us.
