This is absolutely not true. Islam is just like any other religion. It doesn't forbid recording birthdays. I challange anyone to find a verse in the Quran that either explicitly or implicitly indicates so. Though, my explanation for this matter is that in Yemen a lot of people, especially in rural areas like the one in video, are ignorant, they can't write nor read anything. Therefore, their children might end up with their birthdays not recorded.

This is because most people here want to be PC about everything. There is a big debate atm about child abuse in remote aboriginal communities. The government is going to send in more police & social workers but the locals are concerned that this may lead to children being removed from their families if deemed at risk. This occurred in the 20th century up till the 70s so their concern is justified. In the end the children do need to be protected.
