So glad to see some other people out there love station wagons as much as I do.
I grew up with a '68 Country Squire, a '68 VW Type 3 (*"square back"), a '69 Mercury Montego, and a '75 Custom 500. My OWN first new car was an '88 Escort Wagon,
It's so sad they were legislated out of existence.
I grew up in station wagons. Mom always had a 65 Galaxie Country Sedan that was loaded to the gills, and Dad had a 61 Country Squire, while later my step father had a 64 Chevy Biscayne wagon.
First we had a '57 Ford wagon, then a '61 Country Squire, sky blue (like 44 seconds), with a 352 and At. That lasted until early '67 when dad got a '66 Country Squire with a 390-4bbl and 3 on the tree. Both were called "The Inflicter". I was so mean to those poor wagons. And we would put 10 people in it and go up to SF and watch Jimi Hendrix....Use your imagination....
cars had such style back then....today everything looks alike

@jthulan Thanks for sharing, I have fond memories of our 76' Country Squire. I now have a 77' that I am working on.
