holly shit... it's even better than in my souvenirs ... as good as it is... i hesitate to put it in my favourites... as the quality of the video and music is rather average...
I can hardly believe that nobody has not a better version somewhere ...
In all honesty: this song roars through my heart like no other. It tears me apart, throws me down and kicks me back up.
A life long friend of mine introduced me to Prince in the early 80's, just to show how he was on the edge of things happening.
Years later he let me hear this song for the first time when I was working in his pub. Even though I knew the 'Introducing the ...' album by heart at that point.
Since that moment I played this gem countless times.
Nooooooo! I love the dreads Trent oops I mean Sananda. Still trying to get used to the name. I love love love this song. Go 'head with your bad self! Great artist!!!
All I can say is I would love to hear and see more of him back in the mainstream so that everyone can really appreciate what kind of talent he was and still is today. Never really appreciated him in the 80's although was a fan. Wow watching this makes me realise what a gem he really is and I thought MJ was the best!
@Sue2ism I agree with you 100 percent. he's first class Italiano now but America still loves and appreciates him. This video was him at his sexiest; blond hair blue eyed. He was stunning. Still is.
The most beautiful lyrics in any song I have ever heard. I remember being a kid and my parents would play this song alot. I'm only 24 so that wasn't too long ago. I want to listen to music with soul and power and beauty. His music means as much to me as that of Etta James, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, and Led Zepplin ( going completely outside of the box). I'm soooooo over new age pop culture. ENOUGH OF THE TWEEN RUBBISH!! BRING BACK REAL MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!. He is AMAZING
i had to buy a double disc of terence..just to get this song....love..love..his voice...music...everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dance lil' sister gets me up..the lil girl reminds me of what my tinas looked like...
@TheNiro121 definately you gotta be layin next to someone very special if you listen to this. Probably my favourite from him.Ive been playin this song the whole summer has become part of my soundtrack from second 1 to last...perfection
Hey modfather's I totally hear you with the Otis reference. Old school soul singers like Sam & Dave, Marvin, or more notably with Darby Levi Stubbs and Otis.
Even though I grew up a 70s rocker I always loved old soul & R&B acts like those above & Alphonse Mouzon, Aretha, Ruth Brown, Johnny Watson, Booker T & the MGs et al.
Britton's Incognito is & has been my favorite soul/R&B band for awhile now with their blend of great lyrics, a solid soul base & smooth/acid jazz forays.
Such a soulful song..love it! It reminds me of old school soul singers like Otis Redding and also Prince...love his guitar's tone! Sananda, you rock, sugar!
omg...rediscovering TTD...wow. What a song...It makes you wonder what place he's in, in his life to write such poignant lyrics. Loving Sananda from Brooklyn NY. XOXO
Beautiful! Absolutely brilliant - Thank-You Sananda for your gift of song... :) Feel the passion - feel the feeling... Big love to all from Cape Town, South Africa! :)
he sure has class and taste to his work.. the song makes me shiver..it also reminds me of many beautiful memories.. 1995..i jus started high school..;-)) missed the good old times and real music so bad !!

Yes , He changed his name long time ago. according to Wikipedia, he did this after some dreams he had. Story behind this transformation is he basically headed with his TTD commercial image... It was a sort of stand up against harsh commercial music industry. Now He seems more human with his genius artistic qualities, creativity and more ...
genuine sincerity with his art and with his fun's. Even he shares his new productions with his fans with no charge by you tube. What an artist, so admirable...

Sorry about some nasty comments i may have left about u and career..truth is, u have inspired me to start my own band and were a huge inspiration to me as a kid...rain/let me stay/....Great Stuff!
simply one of the greatest of all time. this dude talent crossed all cultural boundaries. look at the praise he gets from all over the world. take a look at the different languages he is getting praise in.
I agree, from italians to british to americans his talent crosses cultures. he is one of the few international stars, and such a shame he blossomed as an artist away from the spotlight.
I am Turkish and i love his music and his personality. I totally agree with your comment...
His music is way ahead of our time, and he is one genuine artist . This guy turn his face against to shit lot of money and fame just to be true with his art and fun's... What an integrity.I believe(that is my personal opinion) he some how had big spiritual awakening. I see quite a bit evidence such as incredible clarity in his thoughts and indisputable visdom in his words...So he is very special for me
Good question monacomickey. It doesn't make sense. I guess at the time (still today) the music industry doesn't know how or refuses to market a Black artist with a rock edge to him/her. Sananda had Rod Stewart in mind to sing this song. Luckily that wasn't the case.
this song gives me goosebumpps everytime i hear it... right up there with stairway to heaven and Hotel California in terms of bringing a group of people together.. shame i can't finds any chords for this.

So you mean the song Eggs + Coffee from The Touch with Terence Trent D'Arby or otherwise known as Early Works? People need to post some of the Early Works songs on youtube, especially songs such as Immaterial, Long Way, Weekend, and I Want to Know (International Lady).
I'm not anymore into this kind of music. But this specific song is brilliant, by itself and because reminds me to my 14 years (damn, 13 years ago). And the voice of D'arby is amazing, a Top 10 black male vocalist.
This is a great song. It would be great for any vocalist to sing along to for practice. Trills, vibrato, range, ruffness, softness, chest voice,falsetto-its the supersized, full meal deal with hot fudge sundae of vocals.
Hopefully with these rare gems, sooner or later there might be concert clips of him on youtube during his Neither Fish Nor Flesh era; the only album era that youtube as of right now except the music videos doesn't have any concert clips of Sananda from NFNF from 1989-1990. Also it would be great to see interviews of Sananda how his heydays from Introducing the Hardline and NFNF. I was only born when Sananda became famous and I want to see what he was like to interview with at the time.
This is great. I never seen or thought that was a video to the song Holding On to You until now. I thought that this song was too good to pass without a music video. I know there's a music for the self-tilted album Vibrator. Do any of you know more music videos from the Vibrator album. I could have sworn there was a video to Read My Lips (I Dig Your Scene)where there are multi-coloured eyes surrounding Sananda or maybe that was just a publicity photo up at the time...
great song. love this whole album.
