  • great song. love this whole album.

  • holly shit... it's even better than in my souvenirs ... as good as it is... i hesitate to put it in my favourites... as the quality of the video and music is rather average...

I can hardly believe that nobody has not a better version somewhere ...

    whatever...thanx for the document

  • In all honesty: this song roars through my heart like no other. It tears me apart, throws me down and kicks me back up.

A life long friend of mine introduced me to Prince in the early 80's, just to show how he was on the edge of things happening.

Years later he let me hear this song for the first time when I was working in his pub. Even though I knew the 'Introducing the ...' album by heart at that point.

Since that moment I played this gem countless times.

  • I luuuurv this song its too beautiful

  • love it

  • ADORO ESSA MUSICA, ME LEMBRA UMA ÉPOCA MUITO BOA DA MINHA VIDA,E A MUSICA É MARAVILHOSA!!

  • Nooooooo! I love the dreads Trent oops I mean Sananda. Still trying to get used to the name. I love love love this song. Go 'head with your bad self! Great artist!!!

  • absolutely beautiful!!S. Maitreya can write his a** off. This song is unmatched in beauty and style. I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • All I can say is I would love to hear and see more of him back in the mainstream so that everyone can really appreciate what kind of talent he was and still is today. Never really appreciated him in the 80's although was a fan. Wow watching this makes me realise what a gem he really is and I thought MJ was the best!

  • @Sue2ism I agree with you 100 percent. he's first class Italiano now but America still loves and appreciates him. This video was him at his sexiest; blond hair blue eyed. He was stunning. Still is.

  • A real gift to music

  • Terence trent is brilliant. I love his music !

  • this has to be the most underrated song ever - FANTASTIC!!!

  • kia ora bro, what a mean voice you are turely bless with it, keep on singing man.....

  • A poet, a magical performer and astonishingly powerful singer. Straight from the heart. Saw him in London in 95 - fantastic.

  • My late mother's favorite song. It's hard not to cry when watching/listening to it. Love you ma, always.

  • This song is my favorite song of Sananda Maitreya/Terence Trent D'arby :)

Thank you for making this masterpiece :)

If you come to sweden let me know SO I CAN BE THERE AND SING ALONG! :)

    Much love !

  • The most beautiful lyrics in any song I have ever heard. I remember being a kid and my parents would play this song alot. I'm only 24 so that wasn't too long ago. I want to listen to music with soul and power and beauty. His music means as much to me as that of Etta James, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, and Led Zepplin ( going completely outside of the box). I'm soooooo over new age pop culture. ENOUGH OF THE TWEEN RUBBISH!! BRING BACK REAL MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!!. He is AMAZING

  • makes me wanna....

  • Awesome song. Who's the guitar player?

  • The guitar player is LOUIS METOYER, the bass player KEVIN WYATT, the drummer STEVO THEARD and the man of many instruments: DAVE JUDY

    With musical greetings,

    Sananda's staff

  • Unreal song and album.BUY IT!

  • This is like, the best song of all times.

Terence Trent D'arby is so underrared.

  • This guy is sam coke, michael jackson, james brown and nat king cole all rolled up in one. 5 stars!

  • Mandy and me hung out with TTD. She got to kiss him. Awsome singer, hot as hell.

  • いつ聞いてもステキな唄声ですね~

  • LOVE!!

  • The bestest song in the worldest!

  • flip been looking all over for this song thru ma sister's cd n gave up!! ....... years later what do you know FOUND YOU AT LAST lol....love it

  • Hey modfather's I totally hear you with the Otis reference. Old school soul singers like Sam & Dave, Marvin, or more notably with Darby Levi Stubbs and Otis.

Even though I grew up a 70s rocker I always loved old soul & R&B acts like those above & Alphonse Mouzon, Aretha, Ruth Brown, Johnny Watson, Booker T & the MGs et al.

Britton's Incognito is & has been my favorite soul/R&B band for awhile now with their blend of great lyrics, a solid soul base & smooth/acid jazz forays.

  • Such a soulful song..love it! It reminds me of old school soul singers like Otis Redding and also Prince...love his guitar's tone! Sananda, you rock, sugar!

  • i love this song, sananda i love you!

    jackie

  • wow..wonder where Sananda was in his life to write such poignant lyrics...beautiful song. Loving him from Brooklyn NY XOXO

  • omg...rediscovering TTD...wow. What a song...It makes you wonder what place he's in, in his life to write such poignant lyrics. Loving Sananda from Brooklyn NY. XOXO

  • Pretty cool song.

  • I love this song!!!

    Go terence go!!!

    Forza juve!!!

    the best song ever!!ihiihih

  • it's a classic without the world knowing it!!!!!!

  • Totally agree. Prince in his good day would have loved to wrote that song.

  • One of the best songs ever, sung only as you can. Thanks

  • Beautiful! Absolutely brilliant - Thank-You Sananda for your gift of song... :) Feel the passion - feel the feeling... Big love to all from Cape Town, South Africa! :)

  • luv this song so much u r so gud sananda much love to u from liverpool uk

  • he sure has class and taste to his work.. the song makes me shiver..it also reminds me of many beautiful memories.. 1995..i jus started high school..;-)) missed the good old times and real music so bad !!

  • beautiful song, beautiful voice

  • I'm confused... this isn't Terence Trent D'arby? Did he change his name??

  • Yes , He changed his name long time ago. according to Wikipedia, he did this after some dreams he had. Story behind this transformation is he basically headed with his TTD commercial image... It was a sort of stand up against harsh commercial music industry. Now He seems more human with his genius artistic qualities, creativity and more ...

genuine sincerity with his art and with his fun's. Even he shares his new productions with his fans with no charge by you tube. What an artist, so admirable...

  • He is a real artist with sublime inpired music and lyrics.

    Sublime poet musician Sananda.

  • Sublime song from a sublime artist.

He says here that all poets must have unriquited love and certainly he must have one for his a true poet musician.

  • This Is A Awesome Song lol

  • i love this song! great memories .x

  • totalie in love with this <3

  • This sounds like Rod Stewart singing through Sisqo

  • pre Sisqo, Sananda (previously Terrence)was singing before Sisquo was thinking

  • sananda you are a very gifted man what a voice love this song just want to play it all the time. good luck in all you do sananda

  • awesome.......beyond fantastic.. great times....

  • "her face was my favourite magazine

her body was my favourite book to read!"

probably the best lines of any song i've heard!

  • hmmm, glad he is still doing his thing!

  • he as got a really good voice

    : D

  • He is a musical genius but without the credit I think we should try to find away to bring this beauty to the rest of the world. Im from Cali and I have never seen him in concert we need more Sananda's in this world to lead or future musical genius.....unitl I heard him I had forgotten what real music sounded like i mean real music!!!

  • i love the guy. He's beautyful, this is the best word: BEAUTYFUL.

  • This man should receive the same recognition and iconic praise as Prince, Michael, and definitely over Madonna! He was and still is a musical treasure! I love him!

  • sono d'accordo con te (I agree with you): è un grande della musica ma non ha avuto il giusto riconoscimento... o forse lui stesso non l'ha cercato e questo lo rende ancora più unico!

  • does anyone know his nationality?????im studying him for an essay?????

  • Simply divine... who needs all these two bit boys bands and girls that cant sing but they have fake boobs rubbish!!! all ya need is this guy! touches the soul.... heaven help anyone who suggests other wise !!!

  • channeling Sam Cooke fo sho

  • LOVE THIS SONG....love terence, this is beautiful....atleast it is original, and doesn't sound like some of this recurgitated shit you can hear this days....real music

  • Sorry about some nasty comments i may have left about u and career..truth is, u have inspired me to start my own band and were a huge inspiration to me as a kid...rain/let me stay/....Great Stuff!

  • Ahhhhh that voice......

  • TOP 10!!!

    Music & Voice!

  • dude had to get away from america to get some respect....the american music scene sucks right now....

  • I love the "HA" great voice

  • simply one of the greatest of all time. this dude talent crossed all cultural boundaries. look at the praise he gets from all over the world. take a look at the different languages he is getting praise in.

  • I agree, from italians to british to americans his talent crosses cultures. he is one of the few international stars, and such a shame he blossomed as an artist away from the spotlight.

  • Loved this song now for years, totally agree. just the best.

  • I am Turkish and i love his music and his personality. I totally agree with your comment...

His music is way ahead of our time, and he is one genuine artist . This guy turn his face against to shit lot of money and fame just to be true with his art and fun's... What an integrity.I believe(that is my personal opinion) he some how had big spiritual awakening. I see quite a bit evidence such as incredible clarity in his thoughts and indisputable visdom in his words...So he is very special for me

  • greattttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

    Mean

  • LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

  • the lyrics is brilliant !Priceless!

  • An all-time fave!! Love it..

  • How come this song never topped the charts. Just f*cking brilliant!!

  • Good question monacomickey. It doesn't make sense. I guess at the time (still today) the music industry doesn't know how or refuses to market a Black artist with a rock edge to him/her. Sananda had Rod Stewart in mind to sing this song. Luckily that wasn't the case.

  • this song gives me goosebumpps everytime i hear it... right up there with stairway to heaven and Hotel California in terms of bringing a group of people together.. shame i can't finds any chords for this.

  • I hae always been a fan of TTD or Snanda as he calls himself now.

He has shown that you can e creative and conform to recod industry stantdards as many artist have today.

Long live creativity and true artistry!!!

  • he's an amazingly talented man...enigmatic, rivetting and elusive

  • The lyrics to this song are so true...he really makes you feel where he is coming from..I always loved the video version posted by Daimaisan, but this version is just as beautiful...Kudos Sananda

Random fact...i lost my virginity to this song :)

  • Yeah... It was a great day, remember :D

  • So you mean the song Eggs + Coffee from The Touch with Terence Trent D'Arby or otherwise known as Early Works? People need to post some of the Early Works songs on youtube, especially songs such as Immaterial, Long Way, Weekend, and I Want to Know (International Lady).

  • I Simply LOVE this guy....

  • One of the best songs in this world!

  • This song is the "Let's Get It On" of the 90's, by the way.

The top 5 "Please Give It To Me Baby" songs ever:

1- Let's Get It On - Marvin Gaye

2- Wicked Game - Chris Isaak

3- Holding On To You - Terence Tren D'arby

4- Thank You - Led Zeppelin

5- Me Dê Motivo - Tim Maia (awsome brazilian singer)

  • I'm not anymore into this kind of music. But this specific song is brilliant, by itself and because reminds me to my 14 years (damn, 13 years ago). And the voice of D'arby is amazing, a Top 10 black male vocalist.

  • this is a beautiful song by an excellent vocalist.damn this dude could sing

  • one of my favorit!!

the song is sooooooooooo blody sexy!!

    take care!!

  • Oh my god! This man is pure SEXY!

Amazing singer/songerwriter! God it bugs me that people think he has disappeared after a few albums! Angels and Vampires KICKS ASS!!!

  • Hopefully with these rare gems, sooner or later there might be concert clips of him on youtube during his Neither Fish Nor Flesh era; the only album era that youtube as of right now except the music videos doesn't have any concert clips of Sananda from NFNF from 1989-1990. Also it would be great to see interviews of Sananda how his heydays from Introducing the Hardline and NFNF. I was only born when Sananda became famous and I want to see what he was like to interview with at the time.

  • This is great. I never seen or thought that was a video to the song Holding On to You until now. I thought that this song was too good to pass without a music video. I know there's a music for the self-tilted album Vibrator. Do any of you know more music videos from the Vibrator album. I could have sworn there was a video to Read My Lips (I Dig Your Scene)where there are multi-coloured eyes surrounding Sananda or maybe that was just a publicity photo up at the time...
