Dude, we all know the Hydro gigas is awesome, lets get some Boiga breeders in the US and bring them up to the level of the hydros...LOL...GREAT WORK!!!
@sweetyboy It depends on the species (as you mentioned with "most"). Females are often larger because they produce young, rather than sperm. In species where males are larger, the males often need to combat other males so they need to be strong to pass on their genes. Since snakes tend to be solitary creatures and are lucky to find a mate, there is seldom combat so the males don't need to be big.
Technically speaking, almost all snakes are venomous. Very few can kill people. Most have a very weak venom. False water cobras are somewhere in the middle. Their venom is about the same potency as Crotalus atrox, but they don't have very much. The worst bites from FWC cause severe swelling, disfigurement, and possibly mild paralysis.
they are non venomus snakes, they have a opistomegadonte dentition, whick means that they have the same dentition distribution like opistoglifas, but that teeth has not that orifice to inoculate you the venom. (dentition name is "opistomegadonte" in spanish. Fabulous snake Hydrodynastes gigas, I`ve got 2 of them. kss, from Buenos Aires Argentina. Ignacio.
@TheReptizeMe yes that may be true but i think that what he means is that snakes such as colubrids and other such types (not pythons or boas at all) have saliva that can irritate the skin and underneath it somewhat if passed on to the victim
my vietnamese blue beauty rat snake is an example as its bites sometimes cause swelling if i dont wash them out well enough
also, garter snakes are venomous but have no way to pass the venom as they lack any fangs or large teeth whatsoever
@TheReptizeMe Sorry for the delayed reply. You are correct that ball pythons don't have venom, but you must've missed the word "most" when I said most have a very weak venom. Boas and pythons lack venom, whereas most colubrids have venom - even Thamnophis are venomous snakes which accounts for the swelling that some people experience.
I bought them as a proven pair, so I'm not exactly sure how old they are, however the female is at least 4 or 5. Your female is a good age for breeding. I've heard of almost 20 year old FWCs breeding!

I am curious about is that most of the female snakes are bigger than male snake?

Are false water cobras venomous? Where do they originate?

I´ve been bitten lots of times by them (ningun problema) bye.Ignacio.

@hydrodynastes wrong. not all snakes are even close to being venemous. Like, take a ball python, not venemous at all, complete constrictor.

How old are they? I have a 6 year old female that I think is starting to get a little too old to breed... so, just curious.

hydrodynastes 3 years ago 2
Oh, good deal. I've read a couple places that after 7 or 8 years, the odds of getting them to breed successfully goes down.
Well, then I can take my time trying to find a male then. Good. Thank you
