I believe this song dates to a session recording with Charlie Parker - unless that's a different one. Anyway, one more song was needed. Slim steps outside and sees a cement mixer. Re-enters the studio and says: "Okay. Now the next song is entitled: "Cement Mixer".
I worshiped the jazz keyboard players of the 50's and 60's, Ramsey Lewis, Les McCann, Herbie Hancock, I thought they were so original, then I saw slim and realized that when they were kids they listened to him. I guess that makes me his grandchild. I used to think I played like Ramsey Lewis, now I realize it all came from Slim. RIP Slim, your talent lives on.
WoW! i've been a fan of this dude for like 15 years now, but i had no idea he could do that! a worthy challenger for the best youtube talent of our age.
Joyful invention. Never noticed how large his hands are; makes his playing look like play. I cannot see an avocado nor potato salad w/out thinking of Mr Gaillard.
@bhikkhu I had just read that sentence on my book before googling him. Fkin amaazing book, and better to have the internet to investigate right away when reading
