I have Hercules dj control steel, which has no output ON the console. So, I plug the headphones in the computer but when I start playing, I hear both decks in my headphones and nothing in speakers. It should be that you listen just to the right deck and both decks (outcome) is produced in speakers... IF YOU HELP ILL SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR CHANNEL PLEASEEEEE
@Rubenianovic the steel has no soundcard plus only comes with vdj 5.0, the rmx comes with vdj home 7 and a huge soundcard, for money i'd buy the steel and a soundcard, for professional feel i would buy the rmx, keep in mind though the rmx is exactly the same design, weight and feel to the steel, hope i've helped
How much is a mac book pro??? and this hercules controller how much is it? would it be good for drumnbass, hardstyle , house & trance? is the soundcard built in so all u do is plugs the headphones in, and are able to cue, by listening to the song your about to mix? your looking at VDJ right?
Question for you, what is the input lag like (if any?). I have an Ion ICue and the Input lag is a killer when trying to mix as you notice the lag between you actually moving the fader or EQ Turner when trying to mix and it sounds daft.
@angelitopr89 dude there is none :D you have to get an external soundcard now :( better inform yourself... but i admid :D i bought it aswell, wondering afterwards why theres no port :D
@Spida747 All of the above...but really; I'm mean really...your laptop speakers:( You know you can go out of your laptop at the headphone output with a 1/8 tip and into your house stereo with some RCA's; that'd be the red and white ones. It's probably a five buck investment, and don't forget to put your stereo in AUX...laptop speakers arrrrggghh...
@SuperBlindeye that's indeed the standard way of doing it, but I'm a little tired of repeating myself over and over in these comments I just answer the questions, even in an ironic way; so YES it will play trough the laptop speakers but NO that's not the proper way of doing it. : )
@marcoshardstyle77 You bought it, and you don't know how to put the samples...arrrgghhh! You'd think you'd learn how to do that with the program, way before having the actual hardware; but I guess Mom and Dad took real care of you this Christmas...Just look at the sampler. as another recording tool, ie, s a m p l e r... oooooOOOOHHH..so then you right click and hold the sampler button down, so it can record your sample... Oh, and in case I'm wrong, that's how easy it is to do; you'll get it!!!
@chargercolt3 it's too easy with this device! : ) Just hook it up to your computer and off you go! You'll be learning fast with this one, it not hard at all!
@chargercolt3 Yeah! It's thee device for VDj; and take my advice go 'Hi End 'cause if you start at the 'low end' you'll never really know your true potential. It's like putting up a Volkswagon buggy against a Ferrari. You can ride around in the buggy all day, but you'll never really know how good you are 'til your in that Ferrari...
@SuperBlindeye it's still a midi controller, it works with Traktor also... It does come with a LE version of VDj, but that's not so bad if you're new to all this.
@digitrich you said that you pre-listening your songs with your headphones with a USB soundcard. I have this console too, but I have 2 input places for boxes and headphones in my laptop. Is that the same? How do I need to config that in Virtual DJ? And how can I pre-listening the tracks in my headphone?
@sbdimistefanis as you can read in the description of my video; I'm using a MacBook Pro, that has a 2-channel soundcard on-board and I use an additional C-Media Speedlink external USB soundcard stick (less than 15€) where I plug my headphones into for pre-listening the songs.
In MacOs I combined the two different soundcards to work as one 4-channel soundcard, and in the setup of VDJ I then selected the combined 4-channel soundcard. So VDJ things I'm using one 4-channel soundcard.
Sorry for my bad English :(
@sbdimistefanis yes, that's basically the way it works... you assign 2 channels for output (to speakers or amp) and 2 channels for monitoring (pre-listing) the song trough headphones. If you only have a 2-channel soundcard, you add a extra usb soundcard where you plug your headphones directly into. In the VDJ software that comes with the steel, you can assign what soundcard (or channels) you use for output and pre-listing. It's not hard if you know the basics.
@sbdimistefanis if your computer or laptop has a soundcard with 4-channels, you don't need the extra soundcard! If your laptop or computer has only a 2-channel soundcard, you need an extra soundcard. Like I said many times before; a simple and cheap usb stick soundcard (20 bucks) will do the trick just fine.
@rodatv I totally recommend this to beginners and novice users, it's perfect to mess around with, and it will fit all your needs. Even a total beginner can get some awesome results with this device! Have Fun!
My computer has an onboard sound thing will this work with that? Tbh i dont mind about having headphones plugged in at the same time as speakers si will that mean i dot need to buy a dedicated card?
do you HAVE to buy an external sound card to be able to hear the cue track in your headphones? or does it depend which soundcard u got in ur laptop/pc?
@swiftie1 indeed, it depends on the soundcard you have in your PC / MAC or laptop;
if you have a 4-channel sound card you don't need the external sound card. If you have a standard 2-channel sound card you will need a second external soundcard, but this can be a cheap USB soundcard where you plug your headphones into.
@codyaku YES that's a standard function, so it's normal that the Steel has this... Buttons are located at the top right and the first button above the left and right fader / channel is for pre-listening that channel. You can also mix them both with the buttons at the top right that also control the headphones volume.
I bought this and it works great and all....how do i hook up external speakers for it
what would i need to buy? Im getting copped for doing a sweet sixteen next month and i really need help on setting up for a venue for alot of people. Again, what exactly would i need? any reccomendations on what equipment and speakers i can get?

hey! i bought a dj control steel and my operative system is snow leopard. when i was installing the drivers, the program told me it wasn't compatible with snow leopard. is there any way of solving this problem? thanks
actually it would need a sound card ... one that works PERFECT with it is the Numark DJIO sound card !! i have it with the Steel Console, and its beautiful .. jaja ... the rest, its amazing ! great product
im just starting to learn to DJ i lik this model but i read a review that says its for proffeshenals ONLY should i get it or not if not do u have any suggestions?
@Vulcan821 they say its for pro's because it doesn't have an internal sound card, It's meant for DJ's who already have a great soundcard, but I don't see why a Steel+sound card is ONLY for pro's. Yes it's designed for pro's but you can use it as a beginner. Some consoles you also need to consider: Hercules Steel/RMX, Numark OMNI/Steath. Steel is a great choice.
Realy nice !! I was about to buy it after seeing your video, but I took a numark's pack (the ibattle pack, not exactly the same thing). But that one looks really nice too, with more possibilties than the mk2 for example. (sorry for the grammar, I'm french ^^)
Hey guys im new to the dj stuff. Just purchased a Hercules rmx and im running vdj LE. I just have it connected through usb and i cant get it to play through my laptop speakers. Do i need to connect some audio cables or what? please respond!!
@Stackz17 Hercules Steel does not have built in soundcard, and Hercules RMX has a Built in sound card, u can plug in a Mic, Headphones, Speakers Inputs and more to the RMX
what is that song, i luv it

Realy nice !! I was about to buy it after seeing your video, but I took a numark's pack (the ibattle pack, not exactly the same thing). But that one looks really nice too, with more possibilties than the mk2 for example. (sorry for the grammar, I'm french ^^)
