  • aww... I wanted to hear the rest of those beautiful harmonics :(

And what's wrong with the pianist?? I think it was pretty fun

  • The technique.. Damn!

  • excellent!!!

  • I want to shoot the pianist in his fucking face.

  • Why is the key different? It sounds a half step higher to me...amazing performance though

  • great master, but Heifetz a bit less regular, that for me is closer to Paganini (though i didn't hear'im of course:))

  • this is my first time hearing Menuhin playing the 24th caprice. Really interesting interpretation!

  • Piano reminds me of Charlie Chaplin movie era, kind of illustrating the scene,ie the violin musical movements, and, frankly,I hate that, with all the respect due to these great Masters, especially Sir Yehudi who was a great human being, great culture, great humility, great compassion,an example for us all.

  • DIFFERENT KEY IS WEIRD AHH!!!! but still amazing

  • @peleftw123 I don't think it's in a different key. It sounds fine to me.

  • milina! :)

  • beautiful music.

  • He makes it look so easy. I'm not used to hearing it with an accompaniment though his interpretation sounds nice with the piano sounds nice.

  • This should be reuploaded not sped to do it justice...

  • A little bit too fast, but still wonderful to hear! A different, but nice interpretation! I do agree with some other users that the piano is a little too hard at some parts. I love his straight stance and coolness. This seems to be harder and harder to find these days, where most musicians 'wobble' along (or at showing a very expressive face) with the music. did find his bow movements a bit awkward, especially the parts where he uses a lot of his bow...

  • MI GRAN MAESTRO

  • hilary hahn's interpretation is the best

  • piano is too loud.... .__.

  • please upload the full piece! :)

  • the key of the piece is different that the original?

  • @rassad89 i think its sped up so its transposed higher

  • @tanakarf yes, maybe the speed of the video is causing that effect

  • the piano accompaniment !! gosh !@ == kinda bringing da violin piece loads of wound...

  • @tangyorangy i agree with you

  • dang look at that bow arm

  • MERCI D'AVOIR ENREGISTRé CES MERVEILLES ETERNELLES! EN ESPéRANT QUE NOTRE JEUNESSE NUMERIQUE SE SOUVIENNE CE QU'EST LA MAGIE D'ÊTRE UN HUMAIN ANALOGIQUE.

  • excellent!!!

  • this video, at least on my computer seems to be in the wrong key, not in the key he must have recorded in. To test this out, the first note is suppose to be concert A It is a B flat, so the recording is a half step too high. This also tends to speed up the playing and make it seem almost superhuman. It might be something wrong my computer or something, but that's how it sounds when I play it.

  • interesting hearing this in b-flat minor

  • aaaaaahhh por que no esta completo!?!?!?!

    que rabia!!

  • Why is this video edited its not all here

  • Is it Persinger who is accompaning him?

  • looks like Adolf Baller to me??

  • @politicopol Yes you're right. He plays with Menuhin during the all "concert" (This is extracted from "Concert Magic" for the reference). (moreover the name of Baller is written at the beginning of the video :) ) Great performance !

  • i feel a little bit rushed in his interpretation. its a bit fast for me, and i wish menuhin were alive today so the sound quality of the video would be better.

  • No way Heifetz is better than him.

  • Heifitz is better

  • Great!

    Listening Primrose...........

  • I think this is a wonderful interpretation. To those who think Heifetz is better, I just don't think it's relevant. This isn't ranking quarterbacks, these folks are some of the greatest all time classical musicians. I think it's great. I am so grateful that someone posted it! These clips are treasures! Bravo!

  • I agree with you. I don't understand why people continually have to make everything a competition. Just enjoy the music.

  • I also agree, talent is talent, no one is the same.

  • Does anyone know in which year this video was recorded?

  • Where's 11th variation? xd

  • The piano accompainment is criative, but only this... I preefer solo violin.

  • Heifetz is better

  • i've got to agree. As great a violin player Menuhin and Oistrakh is, Heifetz is better than both... most ppl usually considered Heifetz as the master

  • I mean Heifetz is better for this piece compared to Menuhin. He is not better on everything compared to other violinists.

  • William Primrose's 24th caprice is on here and it's better than Heifetz.

  • yess pimrose is the best ;) XD

  • I love this piano accompaniment

  • just heifetz could play this appropriately

  • Try Kogan, Quarta, Kavakos, Accardo... Heifetz is wonderful of course, but others play this piece with teir own interpretation and they are as good as he.

  • crazyily good..

omg. i wanted to hear the last variation when everything combines, crazy D:.

  • Players like him are rare now. Probably because people are used to synthesized sounds, and instruments.

  • Why does this video end before the piece is over?

  • Esas manos vuelan. Su técnica es admirable y envidiable.

  • And people actually wonder why I like him as much as Heifetz...

  • Ha this room again :)

  • well, i have to say i hate the piano part.

  • Damn right! I was about to write the same thing... It completely kills the mood for me. Kudos to Menuhin who managed to endure that ridiculous piano accompaniment. I would have smacked that pianist big time!

  • I think the piano accompaniment makes it sound even better.

  • Yep, that's what I've just thought too.

  • Playing this is like masturbatin while drowning...

  • That is a very good analogy.

    Its still fun though XD.

  • okay i have to disagree with you there, Menuhin is an excellent violinist and i am one of his biggest fans, but this tempo isn't exactly that much faster than heifetz speed and clean tone is just about the same, Menuhin himself looked up to Heifetz throughout his solo career so don't go making stupid comparisons like that, just shutup and enjoy

  • Wonderful Yehudi,as always

  • wtf

  • 10/10 I love it !!!

    Recording could be better though...

Ahh, who cares, he plays so well even with a bad recording.

  • lol what did you wanted? colors and blue ray? ahahaha

  • GREAT!!!!!

  • !!!!!!!!!!!!!!....GREAT!

Original ,pure , a passionate , colorful sound , but in the same time gracious and sensitive.

    Yehudi Menuhin is unique.

Isn't that what we all violonists should aspire to?Finding an own ,unique ,beautiful ,style ,and way of expression?

I hope I will find that one day...

  • I agree. I believe so many violinists today have lost that unique quality to the point where interpretation and individuality is becoming rarer and rarer. Perhaps it was the same then, too, and we only remember the bigger names but even our big names don't have that certain individual quality that the so-called "golden era" had.

That being said I, too, hope to find that unique, beautiful way of expression. And I think that's the most important part of playing; the musical beauty of it.

  • Tell me about it... And I have to deal with listening to an entire orchestra behind me each day in orchestra class that all tries to sound the same, even when my teacher makes us do auditions. I'm the only person at my school who actually adds things to music.

  • I could not agree more, bravo !!!

  • His interpretation is so much different than Heifetz's, I love it, I love both of them, they're my favorite violinists. WHY IS THE VIDEO INCOMPLETE???

  • I've been waiting so long for someone to repost this, it's about time, thank you so much!!

  • The piano part is so distracting. :(

  • that´s amazing man, i love the menuhin interpretation, thats very cool.

and the piano ar very interesting.

but what happened with the end!!?? O_o
