Musical movies of this generation remain classics for a reason. People could go and enjoy the cinematic beauty of the costumes and scenery, as well as listen to amazing singers and song/dance routines that were expertly executed. The acting is wonderful, and a lot of modern films would do well to remember just how many people love this sort of thing. I wish the age of the musical film wasn't long gone. Things like this, 7 Brides for 7 Brothers and Calamity Jane were the staple of my childhood.

When I first saw this movie I thought it was one of the most horrible movies that I have ever seen because Hello Dolly seems so cliche. However I later changed my mind. Life may not seem as ideal as this movie, but I think that Hello Dolly shows that one can find happiness in the simple things of life. Above all the one desire of the human heart is to find love is an important theme of this movie.

To each his own taste, but have you heard his mature work in Phantom of the Opera , the Music of Andrew Lloyd Weber, or Favorite Songs from Movie & Stage? Check out his rendition of Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar, one of the most challenging works ever. He does have one of the best show tune voices of all time.
