we all can do something. like plant trees in our homes or community, make our family and relatives aware, stop the mindless consumerism..buy something only if u need it, use public transport, save power...don't keep your laptops or fan or tubelights on for no reason, dont waste water etc etc ...if everybody starts doing such things all this will be curtailed
I was in new york when they were doing this on my 8th grade dc trip! we had no idea what was going on in the middle of the street with all those cups, but now i know =) we could see it off the empire state building!
Me encanta todo lo de starbucks.................no me pude ganar mi taza con la boletita de los sellitos..............solamente me gane un café, por la primera etapa, son tres.........será para la otra
great starbucks. save the forest very nice. but how about the people working in your outlets here in the philippines. when will you save them from being under paid and over worked?
to everyone bashing this video.. remember things aren't always what they seem. these props could just be recycled cups with a liquid which looks like coffee.
god i love the people who start the smallest change, and then brings everyone together and can get such a large turnout! godbless those who chose to make a difference! letsmake a better planet for our children!
@Beeirish1965 Its not necessarily the point, Yes they did use alot of the cups to make the video and it was for advertisement, but the fact that all The starbucks stopped using paper cups for one day for those who brought in their own mugs, is what is making a difference. Its like when everyone turns of electricity for one hour.. It may have not been a huge difference, Its showing everyone about making the initiative to recycle and use reusable products whenever you can.
You just can't please some people. It's not about selling mugs, although the same day a great discount will be given on reusable mugs. They don't even care if you buy or use one of their mugs, use whatever cup you have at home. It's about reducing the amount of landfill we create together. A discount is given every time you use your own mug. Starbucks pioneered the use of post consumer products in their paper cups and now that technology is open to all.
Yes!! Change your habits so we can charge you the same amount, and cut on cup costs and barista cleaning time and offload our water and waste water usage to you! You should feel good about it too. Because we told you to. I like trees and all but I dislike money saving through customer behavior change for increased profits by large corporations. Support your local coffee bar instead.

@ErinSaysHerro It's nothing compared to how many paper cups people waste every day. And it's better to waste a few one to call people's attention to it and make them use reuseable cups.
@Canouver All of the cups used were previously used cups, which thousands of New Yorkers showed up to trade in and to take a pledge to use a free reusable tumbler they were each given. If you look at :24 you can see how dirty some stain some of the cups were.
@dsfdsfa47 They are 10% post consumer recycled material only. And, even then, it is still a big waste of cups and product because there is a wax lining inside the cups that makes the paper cup unable to be recycled.
@Canouver 10% is the most that can currently be used without the cups falling apart. They were the first company to use any post consumer product. These cups were previously used so it wasn't like they were using new cups. They GAVE AWAY reusable cups to all who came and participated. And since then, they've spent the money to pioneer the new tech to make these wax-paper cups recyclable to use again in new cups. So maybe you should do a little research before you start throwing stones.
Good concept of environment loving for starbucks and the concept for the change of logo. - Not admiring the new design of logo though. - Starbucks lover.
@WonderExperience If you mean the mugs, then sure, but they are reusable. And which is better? If you mean the paper cups, then Starbucks is spending millions every year and is pioneering the road in recycled paper cups as they have for the last decade. And recently found a way to recycle even their paper cups.

It'd be better if they offered to fill the mugs each day for a fee, not just for one day.

Paper cups we're used in this commercial but it is biodegradable. still can decompost.

@goodness86 wrong, The cups are made with 10% recyclable materials, but have a plastic lining that can't
be recycled in most places.
