volvo please go home you are putting a great american company in the ground. the only reason you bought mack was for the name so you could get ranks in the world stands. im sorry to say this but mack was better off when renault owned the company because at least they kept to themselves and left mack alone.
im happy to say that my family has worked in the mack plant in hagerstown for 2 and hopefully 3 generations. it started with my pap then my uncle and mom and i have been in the plant since the time i can remember. on there on the road there is a E7 rolling around with heads that had the valves train put in by a 12 year old lol. i have also bent fuel lines for the older engines that are no longer produced. im 21 now and im sure that those heads that i did are still running strong.
@leveraction2008 cool, i saw the CEO on Undercover Boss...there was some rumours that they were gonna move to Mexico, did they move any plant to Mexico?
Mack was the best....until VULVA came along.....Go away you Swedish fuks... 23 years with Mack for me.I hope that Vulva does go AWAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY>>!!!!!!!
...born too late to drive anything older than the R700s, but rode in (and climbed over) many an early bulldog, even before I could walk. Miss those rugged iron green machines!
IM not really good at trucks but just a question,
Those big american trucks who are flat at the front, in many movies they make like "Dooooo Doooo" and then BOM they destroy soemthing. They are used movies often. But their flat, thats whats makes em scary.
What are those beasts called? IN this vid all have like a "nose" on front.
i like most trucks, i love kws. but i drive a mack vision and its not bad. i can proudly say i have the only truck in the fleet with a gold dog( means its a fullblooded bulldog) . like at 3:11 anyway nice vid and great song goes good with vid
My grandfather is a Mack Fanatic!!!! He has always drive a Mack. I prefer Kenworth, Peterbilt and International, but I have to admit that Macks are so cool too, specially the Vision, SuperLiner, Titan and CHN Series. I like Freightliner and Western Star Trucks too.
actually the only real truck is the volvo with a volvo engine which has the most powerful truck in the world 16ltr 700hp 3100nm of torque, the late model macks use volvo engines and kenworths use cummins but as of next year will be running daf engines
Unfortunately yes, Renault got done raping Mack (they stole the E9-500 V8) and sold them to Volvo. The so-called Mack M7 engine is the Volvo engine. Any true Mack engine part number will have 2 or 3 numbers then the letters GB or GC and more numbers. The "R" model wasn't pretty or refined, but damn could it get the job done. In the 70's the Mack ENDT-676 285 hp w/ the Maxitorque 5 spd was Mack's bread and butter. The Gold Bulldog part # 27RU217B signified the Mack 237 hp, 285 hp 6cyl and 325 V8.
macks are the best trucks. my grandpa had a freightliner fld120 and it was a fairly good truck and it had some problem but then he got in an accident with it!!!!! Then he bought a mack and it runs great even though its an older model. i cant really tell you the model off hand, but ill try to post another comment later tonight.
Danny, you dont know what you are on about, wait until you start driving and then you can decide, it really sounds like you do not know because some of those trucks you stated are just junk.
Really my junk pulls 252000 pretty much constantly. Mack trucks are damn near indestructible because anybody can drive one and beat the crap out of them and they will take driver abuse. The other trucks are built for truck drivers
Ok ford, you get your junk ill take a 1988 r model mack and i guarantee in a tug of war the mack would out pull anything. my favourite macks are R models , i guarantee it would smash any new trucks in a tug of war, and it could outpull aany of these new things...
Freightshakers? Better? No. I prefer Bulldogs. I started with them and am debating picking up some old ones.Like the other guy says. Get to driving then get back to us
sorry but you dont know what your talking about. too much time behind your 5 mpg cat. if i have to suffer with 7.25 mpg 545 hp
2000 lb ft i guess thats what ill have to do. ive owned a lot of trucks 5 kws and 3 visions and the mack is by far a better riding truck. unfortunately the truck that gets the job done for the least expense with big fuel economy wins period
I always liked the over the road superliner at 2:04!! I remember seeing one like that in the early 80's. But it was dark green with red chassis, had a bigger sleeper, caterpillar diesel, fuller tranny, rockwell rear axles and Nu-Way air rear supension. That truck was a beauty!!! I remember it was hauling a red 48ft flatbed trailer!! I wish I had pictures lol!!
So if that doesn't show a good engine design then let it be know that Volvo no longer has a D12. They offer a D11, 13, 16....That's right 11L=700cuin. D11=MP7. So if by now you are wondering where I get this knowledge I'll put it like this. I'm 27 years old and can proudly say I'm a Mack Trucks Certified Master Technician. There is no support system in the world that rivals what Mack has to offer. I can call staight through to the Engineer that designed the part I have a problem with.
@gooddriver22 volvos and scanias are fucken awsome!!! after driving kenworths, macks, and other u.s built trucks wich rnt comffy, then jumping into a euro truck, like noway, never again!!! i love my macks but i wouldnt drive 1 every day 4 a living, for a long distance haul, go euro, u wont be slaming the door shut after the trip
i love hearing paccar guys bash the 7 mpg bully dog. i have an 2006 e7 cxn 56 flat top 460 w/ steinbauer box 600 hp 2000 lb ft so if those paccar guys say that it takes cummins to step in for mack to make big power throw that at them mack rules and until paccar really gets their shit together i wont even consider there product
So Volvo being a smart company dumps $150million into Hagerstown, MD engine R&D and assembly plant, and gave the Mack engineers the D12 and D16 engines and they went to work. From that comes the MP7, MP8 and you mentioned the new Titan, well is the only chassis big enough to hold the MP10. 625hp 2050ft.lbs. All the MP engines in the Maxidyne config. peak torque at 1100rpm and stays peak until 1500 also at 1500 you achieve peak HP which also stays peak til 1900rpm................
While they have a little left to be desired for comfort for highway they are making big gains. Since I didn't see any mention of it, should probably mention the MP Engine Lineup. As most should know Volvo purchased Renault AB which included Mack Trucks about 5 or 6 years ago. What alot don't know is they kept their entire staff onboard. Mack was suffering badly at the time with the ASET engines the small cu. in. couldn't take the effects of EGR and increased engine temps...............
A good tribute to the best complete manufacturer there has ever been. They all have their niche in the market place but Mack has a strong reputation. Especially for vocational use. The camel back or "parrallelogram configuration" is the stoutest and most functional rear suspension ever to be designed. Top mounted "bogies" so there are no driveline angles. Triple countershaft transmissions along with their own engine with specifically designed torque curves. Very very fluid powertrain.
Dude when was the last time you drove a detroit? You are talking about the old 2 cycle engines that had leaky gaskets! Newer Detroits are just as good or better than any manufacturer out there. When detroit intoduced the series 60 "the first all elctronic diesel engine" Every manufacturer wanted to copy that engine, because they made a durable kick ass design!!!!!

@TheBandit77TransAm i agree i dont like volvo either. i also dont like freightliners, internationals and sterlings. western stars, peterbilt, kenworth and mack are the best.
