I cannot believe WB wouldn't release the rights to Batman for Smallville. The creators tried for the longest time to get Batman on the show and, instead, they go and give it to Green Arrow! Batman is a billion times cooler!

@rell127 I'm sure you may already know this, but he was originally written as a young Bruce Wayne. The creators of the show had been trying to get Batman on the show for the longest time. However, WB wouldn't release the rights to the character. They thought he was better for movies a TV appearance might have been "beneath" the character. Hints of Adam Knights Batman identity are still in the series, though. Expert at Martial arts, computer hacking, etc.

There story was: Adam and Lana meet each other in therapy cause Lana like broke her leg cause a horse trampled her, so then they get closer, they begin dating, start living together, turns out Adam is taking drugs. "Anti-Death I'm not supposed to be living" drugs. Anyways he thinks Lana took his stash or something, and as he is about to die he shoots her, but Clark saves her. They were hot & heavy for a while until Adam went psycho.

They were originally suppose to have Bruce Wayne on the show, but when Batman Begins went into production, they realized they legally couldn't do it, so instead they came up with Adman Knight, who's name is a combination of "Adam West(played Batman)" and "The Dark Knight(One of Batman's other names". It's their way of having a Bruce Wayne like character being in the show, with out having Bruce Wayne actually be in the show.
