You think that becaus their stage presence energy was so much higher in the 90's. Looking at them now after their self-titled album, they've become much more chill (but still giving off a lot of energy somehow) and the entire band gets along, therefore i agree with fracconiere that they are even better nowadays.

I'm a HUGE Pearl Jam fan and yes they do speed their songs up quite a bit live. A lot of it is probably just due to the energy, but i like to think it's also to get a few more songs in.
