Dumbass whipping the dogs, particularly when they are trying to find a safe way over or down to the water. Let me send you running down a muddy slope filled with other people and slash you in the face over and over with a switch. You NEVER strike a dog, it does not reinforce training, just makes a hand-fearful and aggressive dog.
geez you people need to learn how to ride. you can tug on the reigns if the horse is trying to go up a slope. I mean come on are you stupid? ITS CALLED A RELEASE OVER A JUMP PEOPLE! Be nice to your horses mouths. How would you like someone to tug on a piece of metal in your mouth while you're trying to climb a hill? I dont appose to this fox hunting thing (the riding part) but learn to be kind to your horse.
My horse would either be super tircked by those hill jumps and totally over jump it, or not even know he's suposed to jump and run over it. :P He's blonde :P I love that guy on the paint! XD I would folow him the whole way! "This is how your really do it!"
I still don't understand why people hold the reins instead of the mane when a horse is climbing though! the horse needs to throw the neck down when clibing a ledge, don't pull it up! O_o
Funny how we go to all the trouble o making the nags look pretty n clean to stand about for 5 min at the start of the day before setting off and ruining all that hard work#!
@scrubsaddict247 Hahahaha! Ditto! I used to ride in hippie baggy clothes and sneakers and have my horse braided with colofull beads! then then all the mud seemed to fit in! Now I ride in hunting atire and look like a mess before I even get on! (horse always manages to clean his nose on my shirt or need a boot/leg wrap reffitted in the middle of a mud track!
Oh well, at least we feel neat and proud for 2 seconds
all these stupid hunt videos.. why dont u show the hunting part or some dog work.. noone joins this or watches this or searches this, curious to see you guys ride horses over fences and shit.. its to the point where every video is just jumping and trotting.. noone cares about this shit
@chadbrochills1 actually that's all they care about! they rarely see a fox and there's usually only 1-2 hunters in the lot, everyone else is just trail riding after them, LOL.
Besides, if they did shoe the fox being chased they're be bombarded with criticism by animal rights extremists and the sort
Naw, they are just hacker riders. They ride like crap and put all the effort on their horses. Look at the vid again and see what I mean. You never want to impede a horses back or ass end going up OR down.
@Lagolop suposedly, if one jumps correctly one should lean forward and the horse takes off and lean back as the horse nears landing. If one could manage that, it would be safe AND help the horse on any sort of jump. ;)
@xxxxxPippinxxxxx that lean you're seeing is referred to as a "safety" position in the hunting and cross country world. It's used for any jump on a downward hill or for a drop off. Lean forward over a drop off, and you'll "drop off" your horse.
@xxxxxPippinxxxxx The riders lean back to help the horses, surely it would be a lot harder for the horse to come up at the front if it had someone leaning on its neck. Also if the horse stumbles on landing the rider would be more secure.
It shows that you don't hunt.. or ride XC for that matter! You're supposed to lean back and slip your reins. It's because a lot of the jumps might have a drop/ditch/trappy ground on the landing side. If your horse pecks on landing over a massive hedge and you're leaning over its shoulders, you are both going to hit the deck. Admittedly, you see a few people out hunting that could be a lot more stylish about it...but safety is the most important thing
what would be the best sort of hunt if u dont want to do much jumping coz when i get my new horse helger we r going to do some hunting but i dont want to start of with to much jumping plz could u wright bak :)
@07amanning Dont go hunting unless your 100% confident in you and your horses jumping ability. That said some days are much easier than others and your local hunt secretary will be able to advise you.on an easier day to get you started. Good luck.
@sultanxox hehe, biggest problem are the water crossings! I can always jump him inhand and he'll go over anything that way, but I'm not looking forward into riding on a wetsuit just so he'll cross the water in-hand! LOL
Actually this is a DRAG hunt. No foxes hurt. Or deer. Nothing living. So will you not watch this if you're not going to pay attention to the two draggers in the other video.
wow that looks like so much fun! im pretty sure my horse would run off with me lol i wish i could do this!

The lad at :45 is smart. He tried to keep his horse at a walk and tried to move him to the grass before troting! My thumbs are up to him!
