The character originated on SCTV with the faux kid's program "Mrs. Falbo's Tiny Town." Andrea Martin played Edith Prickley playing Mrs. Falbo. John Candy played Mr. Messenger. Done when the show was being shot in Edmonton (c. 1982). That would be a great clip to post , if anybody has it.
Alway fun how Wanda begins to hopelessly yank on the TELEPHONE card, trying to get it off. Naturally Wanda can make the word card appear, but can't make it DISappear! That's one of the rules about being a comic fairy!
I also remember when Wanda made the words, "Darn it", appear then asking if anyone has a hammer. I guess they edited it because they didn't want kids using the words, Darn it.
I know, and I think that's absurd. When I was a kid, that term was acceptable in my house. It was the other "D" word that we weren't allowed to say. So does anyone have full version?
