would this be appropriate for recording mixing desk audio out for a band with no current recordings for like a live ep type thing or would the built in mic's be sufficient
or should i be llooking at a different product if so any ideas which one would be good
This is the PERFECT hardware for HALF of my applications!
I swear if it had multi-track recording (minimum of 2 sources - like I could record a vocal onto one track, and his guitar onto another track, then mix them later, with other instruments) THIS WOULD BE MY DREAM PIECE OF EQUIPMENT!
.
As far as pairing it for video recording with the Canon 7d, it's perfect.
.
However, I'm just saying, for this price and all the features, it is AWESOME! I only wish they made a Dr101 w/ multi-track rec
does the XLR inputs also do +4 line in or are they just mic level? do you have a dr100 vs h4n review somewhere? this unit looks to have a better build quality over the h4n.
Excellent review. But you'd think at the price they would throw in a mains adapter. I just bought the Zoom H2 which is a lot cheaper but I have to admit that build quality is a bit iffy. If it breaks I'll get a DR100 next. I use it for filming wildtracks for 16mm filming.
Great great videos. I'm starting off as an audio journalist, and will be doing interviews in the field. I've heard a lot about the Zoom h4n, does it compare well to the tascam dr100?
Thanks. Unfortunately not. However, the Zoom H4n which we are reviewing right now does. An interesting omission by Tascam which hasa long history of inexpensive multi track recorders (thinking of my 4-track cassette of yesteryear). Still, an excellent 2-track recorder for oral history.

Is there a way to hang the tascam from neck or to attach it on the belt so it can be used comfortably by boomen?

TASCAM or ZOOM 4N?
VisorTM 10 months ago
good review
got some additional questions though
Can it be set to record monofiles?
Will the XLR inputs accept a line signal with the phantom power turned off?
I'm going to use it to record sounds directly from the audio outs from synthesizers and drummachines and is also concidering the zoom h4n.

Thank you for this beautiful presentation, but that seems a little complicated. I am French and the menus are in English!

I am wondering if you can adjust the mic level of the xlr ports independently. This is not possible on the H4n. I was disappointed.

Thanks for this video! Can the Tascam also act as a usb audio device, so one could directly record into some DAW without using the SD-Card?

hello !
is the tascam a multitrack recorder, or can we only recors one tracks by one.
can we listen to one track and record another at the same time ?
thanks
moliba11 2 years ago
no, not multitrack-technically. You can, however, overdub---record over a playback file with a new signal and mix. So multitrack, kind of.

is it possible to record to 4 channels? f. ex record simultaneously both onboard mics + mics connected to XLR.
thanks.
and btw nice video :)
