  • what a kook hes wearing socks on the beach lol. Anyways, I recently came across a black man teaching his sons how to surf here in Florida while I was waiting for a wave and it was a moment in my life I'll never forget.

  • One of my friends from college (who is black) is an awesome surfer. I wish I can surf, he tries to teach me but I always get frustrated because I want to be as good as him :-)

  • simple..... they left because the beach got flat.

stop making and issue about it, can't a brother check out different spots now?

  • Funny the Ignorance Displayed since:

    1. I have been Surfing since 1976 (was on my College Surf Club Team)

    2. I am usually the Only Black at Surfing Venues

    3. No one else has more Surfing Photgraphs than I, on Facebook

    4. I am well-known by some of the Most-Famous Surfers throughout the World

    5. Oh, and Yes - I am "Pecan - Brown"

  • @majorPain0302 I'm in SD i just started surfing

  • The best surfer in santa monica is black. His name is Rusty White. Nobody knows shit. Do a search for him, you'll see.

  • If anyone gets a sign. The native americans should get a sign in every county and beach in the state, or the entire country for that matter, lets put signs all over the place.

  • we got some aboriginal surfers in aus, but yeah i havent seen to many black dudes in america

  • There is no record of a shark ever biting a black surfer on the L A Coastline.

  • Dockweiler Beach in El Segundo near LAX was a popular beach for African Americans in the 1950s, during the time of racial segregated public beaches. Asians also had separate beaches, like in Redondo when the city made an ordinance stating "only negroes & orientals here". Surfing was a sport introduced by Hawaiians into So. Cal. in the 1800's, when many came to the mainland and blended into the black, Asian or Mexican communities, since whites can't extinguish native Hawaiians at the time. +

  • cool...

  • lol this just makes me laugh, im still yet to see a black surfer

  • @thezooo1234 In Hawaii, the black surfers look like Jamaicans :D

  • what the hell? I respoded to this stupid shit months ago and the tag was removed but they let some jack ass like ben keep his dumb comment up..what the fuck?

btw...i got the plaque done jack ass

  • Exactly! There is a legitimate history regarding people of color in surfing. I saw several when I was stationed at Camp Pendleton. This story of Nick Gabaldon is amazing and inspiring.

  • you guys are so ignorant....do your research. by the way Im a BSA member

  • do you really believe that? lol

  • myth
