  • @barbierocks5 These cooked, stewed tomatoes will keep about a week in your refrigerator. Just heat them well when you are ready to serve them again.

    --Betty :)

  • are those tomatoes raw or cooked?

  • @barbierocks5 They are raw in the beginning, but they get cooked in the recipe.

    --Betty :)

  • Hi Betty,

i think this could also be a special tomato sauce for Pizza or as a sauce for Pasta!

or maybe to make some quick spanish rice....

    I'm just thinking...

Always great inspiration here on your channel!

    Thank you!

    Joe from Germany

  • @JoeHell67 Hi Joe! It's nice to hear from you! I agree with your ideas--these stewed tomatoes can be used in a lot of ways. Thanks for the great tips for everyone!

    --Betty :)

  • I love fresh stewed tomatos Betty! I also like them a little chunky. your recipe is PERFECT!stewed tomatoes are great I feel hot or cold.Betty do you have a recipe for tomato pie?My LATE great Momma used to make tomato pie.

  • @LESTER7L1 Hi! Thanks for your nice comment! No, I don't have a recipe for tomato pie, but I will check it out.

    --Betty :)

  • this looks really yummy!

  • I have tons of Grainger county tomatos and now I know just what to do with them!

  • Betty: Cooked tomatoes bothers my digestion so I usually add baking soda to neutralize. Is this an OK thing to do to cut the acid?

  • u donjt use ur measuring cups when cooking for yourself do you i know your skills are greater then that you just use the measuring cups for us to follow the recipe

  • @SentOWNSU You are right! When I'm cooking for my family, I can put together a meal in no time, because I just scoop out the amount of flour that looks right, etc. I don't need to measure most things, but, for tutorial purposes, I feel that it is necessary.

    --Betty :)

  • betty, how do you take care of your vegetables, and you herbs to get bugs as much out as possible?

  • @kyh7501 I've been lucky this year in that there has been no problem with bugs. I think that herbs serve to repel bugs, so that is probably protecting our tomato and pepper plants also.

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, this recipe is so current. Use stewed tomatos over toast... with or without cheese as a nice lunch or supper dish. Use Stewed tomatoes in place of a sauce in a macaroni dish with or without ground meat. This is a super dish, tried and trued over years, including the Depression. Great job, as always.

  • @Patsymd Thanks for your great comment! I love your ideas for using stewed tomatoes!

    --Betty :)

  • Betty, I love stewed tomatoes !! Momma always put bread in ours. Thank you for the recipe . I will make real soon. Surfincybersis

  • Hi Betty,

    Looks really yummy!!!!!

Tomatoes are so incredible healthy, we eat them every day when there in season over here. This is a great recipe, I'm gonna make it for sure. I think I'll serve pasta and meatloaf with it.

    Thanx.

  • @sanronjoy Thanks! It sounds great with pasta and meatloaf! I love spaghetti served with meatloaf!

    --Betty :)

  • how many tomatoes approxamatly?

  • @creamywasabi Mine were small, so I used about 8. If you have large tomatoes, then about 4 ot 5 will do it!

    --Betty :)

  • Very nice Betty, Thanks! I appreciate you explaining the differences between fresh and canned!! I agree with you 100% on how to use tomatoes:)

  • @skabibble Thanks for your nice comment! I really appreciate it!

    --Betty :)

  • How many calories roughly? :/

I am going on a diet and want a all low fat and lo calorie diet :)

    Any recommendations?

  • @guns511 This has very few calories and is low in fat. You may elimate the fat entirely by boiling the green pepper, onion, and celery before continuing the recipe. It will not make a lot of difference in the taste. You might be interested in my Gazpacho soup and also my diet chicken soup. Also, think about broiled chicken, grilled salmon, tuna salad, chicken salad, and lots of vegetables without sauces. And fruits (with artificial sweetener) for dessert.

    Always watch calories.

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Thanks! i am going to be making myself a sort of subway style sandwich for lunch each day with different ingredients (low fat mayo and sauces) with grilled chicken and lettuce and green peppers. For dinner maybe Try either beef or chicken fajitas or wraps but replace the onion with lettuce and some other vegetables and fruit. :D

thanks for all your videos :D

  • @guns511 You are getting off to a great start! Since you are interested in foods, dieting will be easier for you than for people who do not make a significant change to their eating habits. You can be adventuresome and really enjoy your food while the pounds melt away!

    --Betty :)

  • @bettyskitchen Haha yeah :)

I am 15 and trying to get into fairly good shape by the 8th of October for my school trip to America so i can get a tan. Hour of running every two days and a hour on the multi-gym every night and 1 hour of situps, push ups and squats every morning and dieting. Fingers cross (YN)

  • Hello Betty, A quick tip I learned: long term cooking will concentrate the acid in the tomato. Thank you for sharing your cooking, all your cooking and baking looks delicious. I thought for certain I could smell those tomatoes, then I remembered I have vegetables I am stewing on top of the cook stove right now for dinner lol. RaquelLeah

  • @RLDPoetry Hi RaquelLeah! Thanks for the lovely comment! I hope you are having a great day!

    --Betty :)

  • could you add some chilli's to that and make it a salsa?

  • @irishgal451 Yes, in fact I have a recipe for quick salsa that is just about that!

    --Betty :)

  • @irishgal451 This would be great added to spaghetti sauce too.

  • you could add peppers to the leftover and you have salsa!

  • I am so hungry. :/

  • Looks good...I could eat it for every meal...Thanks for sharing!!!

  • Looks delicious!

  • Yum!..that would be delicious in homemade spagetti sauce.

  • that's something i'll DEFINITELY try!

  • Betty u r beautiful ! :)

  • Betty when we were kids we were dirt poor & our Mom hated to cook...often our dinner was overcooked macaroni with a can of stewed tomatoes dumped on it.....believe it or not...it was her "Best meal" haha. My sister and I still enjoy that but with the macaroni cooked properly...not overboiled. No meat, no cheese, just the stewed tomatoes over boiled macaroni. Think I will make some of this next time my sister comes to visit with my own tomatoes & peppers from my deck garden for old times sake Thx

  • betty u r the best

  • That looks really good!
