Depends how you use them admitedly it takes an experianced player for good outcomes as tau but the tau still fought the marines to a standstill in the damocles gulf crusade and their vehicles and fleets are alright in a game vs imperial fleet although i prfer eldar for BFG and Chaos for land combat.

thats the story line guy. in game terms u dont have to have any REAL strategy when playing as the tau. they just stay back and shoot, pop out of cover, shoot, go back to hiding in cover. my chaplain lead assualt squads, drop pods with my honor guard and dreadnaughts r a remedy to the cowardly tau.

the problem is that most tau players try to static fire line the enemy, this is a fallacy.

the tau are best at mobile combat, if you stand still you're screwed.

basic FoF can usually give you enough mobility, cover, and firepower to seriously damage the enemy, hell if you overlap fire properly not even a terminator is getting out of there unscathed. A GOOD tau player uses firepower, mobility, cover, baiting, and diversions. what did you say about "no strategy"?

sure, but only if you are using standard tau, farsight tau are quite effective at closer ranges but i dont play them either. trust me though if you ever see an oponents commander with a weird sword thing, run away from it

I utilize mostly pathfinders Steath suits and piranahs with a broadside commander and firewarriors as a mre static base although they have a couple of devilfish ready to move them quickly, the result is a bunch of swift moves, quick vehicle kills, and a rather confused friend.

i meet it with 2 twin linked BS5 70" S12 AP1 shots to your daemon prince. along with a set of 48 pulse rifle shots along with two burst cannon bursts to your front lines. Also any independent characters are getting marker lit and sniped with rail-rifles before they can do much thanks to the scout rule, and any heavy vehicles you have will be blasted at close range by my piranhas, which count as skimmers and use twin linked Fusion blasters, along with a complement of gun drones. kay your turn
