  • My mother died of lung cancer in 2001. I was 15 at the time. I remember she used to sing this to me eveynight at bed. Well today is 17th of October and she has been deaD 11 Yrs now. I just wanted everyone to know that with her last words ( she was panting and gasping for air) she looked at me and said "The Sweetest Thing I've Ever Known, Is Loving You."

    God Bless you mama-

    Sharon Fields Holcomb (April 15,1948-October 17, 2000)

  • @jsutherland88 bless your heart i know you will treasure that moment for ever my mother past away in 1999 and i treasure every moment with her.

  • When I hear this song it brings back memories of a long lost love. He is still in my heart....even though he does not care...that part hurts..we could have had a wonderful life together but I chose to give him his freedom...thinking it was best for him...now I wonder what could have been if our lives had come together. He is a wonderful and loving Father and I hope that he has true happiness forever.

  • there are things ..one must not share with others.. This is not one of them !!

  • @DRUMSROSES Your love story is sweet... God Bless you and your husband in the heaven. :)

  • I really loved these Juice Newton songs from the first two albums I bought, starting with the 1981 album that had the "Angel of the Morning"! She had really good songs on both of those albums! Peace, BobbyK

  • This was my wedding song. We had so many troubled shores and heartaches. Both our first spouses died. RIP Louis & Debbie.

  • This is one of the best songs ever written. If you aren't moved by the words and the way Juice sings it well then you have died. This song moves my soul. Awsome

  • This is my parents' song. :)

  • This song was on the boom-boxes as I ran around the wards all night as an intern at Cook Co. Hospital, 1981-1982. Corny, yes, but true, nonetheless. Nearly 30 years later, I find myself e-mailing it to the man who is, truly, The Sweetest Thing.

  • Anybody have the original version, with steel guitar, in place of the oboe? Even 'American top 40' played the steel guitar mix. Hit #1 country, AC, and #7 pop in Billboard. God bless!

  • My grandad passed away from cancer at home in his bed early on the 11th of April this year. He asked that this song be played at his funeral as his final words of love to his wife of 53 years, my nanna. His funeral will be later this week and I've been learning the song so that I can sing it to my nanna any time she's struggling.

Thank you for 25 years of love and guidance grandad. Nothing will ever be the same without you. I love and miss you so much <3 xx

  • Very soothing to the soul. Excellent sound. This was my mum's favourite.

  • What the hell does Miley Cyrus have to do with this song and video from Juice Newton????

  • This video is not nearly good enough for this song.

  • Great singer, fanatsic song. Not a fan of this video though. Juice Newton was MUCH prettier than this video shows.

  • is this the 76' or 81' version?

  • Yeah it is a sence of humor. some peolpe need to lighten up. People need not to be so sensitive. Strange thing is I do not even remember writing this statement, so it must have been some good dope. Also, it is not the size of the pen its the hand writing that matters.

  • ''Also, it is not the size of the pen its the hand writing that matters...'' Now we're laughing !

  • why dont they make singers like this now? now we got miley cyrus....WTF!!

  • Miley Cyrus is in high school and entertains her peers. She should not have a song about reluctantly admitting the pleasure of having a confusing and illicit affair.

  • yet she strips on cam, does soft core porn (pics in mag) and did a pole dance almost half nude at that award show. I would say she already has done far worst.

  • I love this song. What a great voice. I used to sing this as a little girl.

  • Juice sang it so long ago....and now, today, I feel the words so deeply inside about my own sweetheart...this song is truly timeless...

  • I always wanted a voice..a bus....a boyfriend and a horse-drawn carriage :) :)

I always loved Juice's albums before the big hit! I still have them....Too good to let go.........

  • Wow, this takes me back. I still remember my first love and this song. First love is much more powerful than I ever thought before now. I have recently discovered that those feelings are still there and are still very much alive. Thank you "My 1st Love" for loving me back then and for the love you have for me today. :=))

  • This is absolutely in its genuine simplicity,

its amazing words and melody, and divine vocal delivery, one of the most beautiful recordings ever made! I am thankful that at least for a time I lived in a country and a time where people had the heart, the sense and talent to know this was good. Long ago and far away, yet here it plays today! Thanks Juice!

  • Nicely put....

  • Drumsroses, it's folks like you that truly show that it's never too late in life to find love. I'm so sorry for your loss, but I know that you will see him again. Just before Christmas, I worked a death investigation. The last word out of the mans mouth was his wife's name. I thought how sad, yet wonderful that it was the last thing he said. I'm sure it was a true testiment of the love that they shared for one another.

  • My soul mate left me for another and this is my favorite crying song. I miss her so much.
