  • that dude has a remote!

  • I sure am glad you put fifteen minutes of you just fucking around with it rather than it firing at the start of the video. That's totally what I wanted to see when I read "motion tracking paintball turret". Thanks for that.

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • LOLOLOL if it turned against them.......

  • they should totaly put this in like big paintball matches, each team gets one turret that only has limited range though, and there would be a spot u have to shoot the turret to disable it

  • pretty cool, looks like it still needs a bit of development, but this is definatly somethin I thik is pretty sweet, though wouldnt have reccomended using co2 in those cold conditions, doubt it made much difference, keep up the work :)

  • since its being controlled by an apple, why dont you call it the IShoot?

  • thats actually really good! Can't wait to see it with like a laser and more fluent motions hahahahah

  • Oh nasty Iowa

  • 0:29

  • dear santa\

  • its not very accuret

  • im going to lern electric and automation in high school now can i build things like this then ? or do i have to go mekatronic ?

  • OMG! so Metal Geasr Solid!

  • PUT THAT ON A RC CAR :D

  • @pivotguy3 i dont think it will work since the turret tracks motion... -_- as in the rc car moves and the turret on top shoots everything that moves... turret + rc = poop

if you dont get it then your just a lil dumb :P but

    i like the idea :D

  • Imagine if a bird flew past :L

  • is there a place where any body could get the code for the tracking?

  • @unitedstates989 If you're looking for some open source, high quality motion tracking software, do a search for "OpenTLD" by Zdenek Kalal.

  • no it would be sentry gun inbound

  • sam turret inbound

  • birds?

  • He guys, nice project, but what is the motion tracking part? I am currently building a similar device in my design company and was wondering if you've managed to get a real motion tracker working with this setup.

  • you dumb nuts you getting your mac wet

  • Engineer is credit to team

  • nice job! still look shaky but its an awesome sentry hehe xD

  • Where do u live faggot well nuke your ass

  • american are just all gay !!!!!!!!

  • @TheJul888 very true!!!

  • this is a bad sentry gun other's r like an aim bot

  • make it compact and feild ready ill buy it

  • do u sell those for under 300 bucks and show exactly how to build it once ya buy it and give all the parts and stuff?

  • i see one flaw with this...... players who are already "out" would get fired upon if they came across this....i would get pissed and break the dam thing.... lol just sayin' :)

  • whoever has the controller sucks

  • @HazeFerRillz uhmm.. check the title...

  • @99mik123 it looked so sucky that it seemed controlled . did the guy even get hit ?

  • @HazeFerRillz i think it was because it aimed at the fastest motion it detected, which was the legs. a little software tweaking should fix that.

  • Water water water!

    Loo loo loo!

  • All americans are smart you fag

  • using your hands prove to be by far the best way to shoot a paintball gun

  • It's Canadian. lol

  • NEED A DISPENSER HERE!

  • Spah sappin mah paintballz sentry!

  • Imagine if you had about 20 of those turrets, but with infrared sensor.

Then you create a transparent eye patch with a infrared light on it.

Still use joystick for incremental adjustement and shooting, but that would be so cool.

  • Erecting a sentry!

  • Mac sucks they are way over priced and there advertising is shit! god I hate apple!

  • I love you.

  • nobody cares about your opinion.

  • It doesn't seem to work.

Maybe if you used a PC instead of Mac your project would turn around.

  • i was about to post well thats cuz hes using a mac but then i scrolled down, lol.

  • @richyrich2us when you say pc what do you mean by that? you could call a mac a pc. pc just stands for personal computer. what os are you running?

  • @andr123w don't be a smartass. You knew perfectly what I meant.

  • Righteous! Reverse shooting gallery. BE THE TARGET!

  • looks like you got some more work to do.

  • does this realy tracks the target?

  • LOL..

  • ........ you just called yourself an idiot Vindictive

  • it does not hit the target..

  • If it where mass produced paintball games would never be the same :D

  • you should combine that with the paintball mini gun

  • That. Is. Awesome.

  • beware for spies!!!

  • sentry gun for paintball games

    you should sell it

  • Engi's Sentry Level 1 ;P Nice work guys. Impressive.

  • very impressive

  • haha like forty eclipse 10's on ramping just imagine with 1000 round hoppers getting lit up sooo bad

  • now find a way to put that on an rc car and pack in all the circuts

  • or put 5 on a real car =3

  • Comment removed

  • yea thats a smart move...

  • nerds!!

  • your face is a nerd

  • lol

  • Ok lets see it then I dont see any pics to prove that.

  • they did not build the paintball gun.. they made a motion tracking turret..

  • And no videos on the channel? You are telling someone else to get a life? You call your 'internet talk' a life? haha I bet you got huge virtual penis or atleast you try grow it.

  • WHAT? You just typed a bunch of words without actually saying anything, so my answer to you is:

  • No one asked for you to answer anyway. This just proves how stupid you are. Well atleast I don't come to internet tell other people deadseriously that I invented or built something that I have no proof of. Like you or in American Inventor. Only in US...

  • You're an idiot. The only reason you don't believe me is because all that shit seems so hard to you. The motion tracking platform is nothing more than 9 (or 5, depending) motion sensors, 3 brushless motors (x, y, z axis) and some drive components (belts, gears, etc). And as far as your idiotic need for proof goes - do enough web searches from the one video I have up, and you'll find video clips and magazine articles linking me to my mechatronics projects, Battlebots, and my current job. NFO.

  • I don't think it is hard. I think your comments here are internet talk nothing more. Plus your way to comment back tells a lot of you. I bet you are <15 hence no mature person writes shit like that.

  • Hey not all Americans are idiots. Just the ones that have the time for arguing with people they don't know on youtube.

  • @VindictivePaintball it looked so sucky that it seemed controlled . did the guy even get hit ?

  • @VindictivePaintball sorry didnt mean you. error.

  • Wow man, that's good stuff!! Good job!

  • not the best one...

  • the guy was manually controlling it, i saw him holding a controller.

  • yeah but he was testing to see if it even worked...

  • the aiming didn't look accurate... .. but sh1t this is cool

  • rate for me

  • lol canadians!

  • SPY SAPPING MAI TURRET

  • its sentry

  • lol!

  • now lets see them have it track the paint ball and correct for windage and loft and spin so it will hit the target every time at a greater distance

but figures it is from waterloo

  • unless u can make one of these by urself then shut up

  • not a dis i was just suggesting a possible continuation on the project

  • lets see you make a better one, they did the best with what they had. You don't have to be a duck about it

  • if it is motion tracking it doesn't seem like the best idea to do it while it's snowing

  • I'd say it's a pretty good thing if it passes such a test

  • Spy zapping my paintball turret!

  • sappin*

  • I know that It's spelt sappin It's just that most people don't know that so they would pronounce it weirdly.

  • i was going to say that!

  • imagine seeing that while playing

    ohhhh craaaapp

  • lol imagine being the guy who ruined the laptop when he shot it thinking it was a person......

  • a mac?! ruuuuuuuuun its going to kill us all!!!!!

  • awesome.

  • whoa dude thats sooo cool!

  • y would you want to paintball in the winter

    that would suck

    OUCH!!

  • not play tard this is a uni project its just a test to see if it works

  • yea u stupid tard

  • because paintball is very delicate in the winter and hurts much less. paintballs cant freeze by normal means

  • Paintball guns jam at freezing temperatures, though.

  • The ball hurts less cuz most markers fire at lower rate (FPS) when in colder weather. If you use NO2 as opposed to CO2 you won't have that problem. Getting hit while you're cold though tends to negate that and it feels the same as getting hit when its warmer.

  • Balls Per Second (BPS) **

  • No I meant what I said, Feet Per Second (FPS). That's the rate of travel of a single ball when fired. That's what the reading of the chronograph is measured in.

  • He's letting you shoot him with frozen paintballs?

    Ouch.

  • the paintballs hurt less when they are cold cause they break easier, and paintballs dont freeze

  • not true.

  • actually that is true...if you freeze them they get more brittle than if you dont. something people often mistake

  • lol he should be the engineer in team fortress 2!

  • lmao

  • if i whack it with a wrench, will a rocket launcher pop out the top?

  • lol

    TF2 FTW

  • oh NO! a MAC!

  • these are some pretty awesome automated

turret projects going on... i'd like to do this when

    im in college

  • ya i agree

  • Damn, u guys get some pretty cool final year projects.

  • That's awesome!

  • the first thing i thought when i saw this was team fortress 2.."erecting a sentry!"

  • did the now provide any kind of improved contrast with the man in the black snow clothes? Try it in a more wooded setting and perhaps u could market these to paintball places, set up a hard to reach target that disables the turret it could provide a new kind of game play fro a type of scenario paintball game.

  • lol,

aliens-get past the century turrets that have only like two hoppers of paintballs or something. or even better yet, shoot a pressure target that deactivates the turret.

  • lol the guy got powjned

  • Be careful

    don't go putting bullets in..

  • hey , what kind of motion sensor did you use?

  • We are using a digital camera.

  • thats freakin amazing

  • wow im making something jsut like this but with a airsoft gun with my airsoft nxt

  • It doesn't work very well; the video is boring.

  • lets see you make one then

  • Four years in a university and still bring electronics in the snow... Should have a better gun tho! :D

  • yeah nice job, placing expensive electronics in the snow... very smart.

  • water water water

  • what the fuck is the point of this? fucking stupid. typical macfags.

  • the only problem for all the paintball turets if if you were to attemp to use this in a match (thing of there faces when there's a turet shooting them) the lap top you could put the laptop into a case under it

  • it's a line of sight motion detector. It only shoots what it sees. just don't let it see you moving. Also im sure they would have developed a remote kill switch

  • hax

  • it doesnt seem to be very good

  • That's pretty cool! Make a simplified, portable version for use "in the field" and you've got a money-maker!

In the same vein, can you imagine going in after the flag, only to be shocked by the surprise defense roles of these automated pwnzors?

  • it can only fire at both ends of it range of movement i could draw you a sketch of a better firing mech for it

  • OMG THER AIM-BOTS-ing

  • Now just fit a 50.c magazine onto it, set it outside your house.

That'll keep the Carol singers away this christmas :)

  • It s there money.

  • lol

  • its a school project.. doubt they really cared about the gun

  • it works it just cant hit crap for the life of it

  • Nice spot of engineering, very impressive! Been perfecting my own version that is much simpler in design. Using IR sensors to operate the stepper motors. Will post when finished

  • That's awesome. The university I'm at we aren't allowed to do whatever we want. We need a client. Not too many legitimate clients want a motion tracking paintball turret though.

  • very cool! do you think this is something a high school robotics club would be able to do? because it looks like it might be a little bit out of our league, but still awesome.

  • If you're talking about a FIRST team, I bet you guys could pull it off. It looks like the hard part would be the code.

  • on our way to team fortress paintball in real life...

  • yeah

  • Hey, that is pretty impressive. I am a senior at St. Cloud State University and we are doing a similar project and I have been doing research on turning video data into intelligent commands for the position motors and I was curious if you have any information you could share about your project. Please respond here or if you have time you could e-mail me at jakesterama at yahoo. Thanks, keep up the great work!

  • a little slow but still awesome

  • i would have used a electronic gun for an easier trigger pull, very nice keep up the good work

  • Thanks for the comment. We actually are using an electronic trigger. You can see wires coming out of the handle.

  • please tell me how you guys rigged up the motion sensor I've been trying to find out how for years now.

  • There is no motion sensor. We are using a camera and detecting motion by differencing consecutive frames.

  • some kid built one that is actually motion tracking. this guy is doing it with a joystick

  • No, there's a webcam on a tripod in front of the gun. Nice try, though.

  • im not talking about this bullshit turrent on the video. watch?v=RxBa5bQfTGc made an actual motion tracking turrent. so quit replying to me because you can't comprehend the english language. you stupid fuck

  • I'm talking about this turret, there's a webcam on the ground in front of it. Better get your eyes checked you stupid British bastard.

  • This turret has two modes: manual which uses a joystick for calibration, and motion tracking. Motion tracking is on when the person is running in front of the turret.

  • i call bullshit

    .

  • nice try guys but have you seen this one?

    watch?v=RxBa5bQfTGc
