Hope they'll remake it in all it's fragile splendour. It was a unique british landmark. What a dreadful pity...

I dont understand why they let this thing burn for so long while polluting the air with stinking smoke, they could have knocked the pier over and into the water and that would have put out the fire and got rid of all the smoke.

I find it strange that there was no sprinkler system, ok back in 86 when I work there (Oh the younger day s ;-)) for a summer they didn't have one, but we are now in 2008! True It is very sad and a great lose, and lose may may be the key word, as who could possibly gain?

i admit, the town aint up to much (aint up to anything actually) but my parents used to take us here all the time and the pier was the only place worth going too...
What a poor shame for all the holiday makers. I was only on the pier on saturday 26th when I took the kids to the weston for the day because the weather was nice.
The pier brings in many tourists to weston and lets hope someone as the balls to rebuild it. It was destroyed by fire in 1930 and rebuilt, before re-opening in 1933. This year it opened with new go-cart and climbing wall and gift shop.
Perhaps we should start a save the pier Campaign....what do you think ????

the pier was bought by a new owner just s few months back and he just spent half a million building a go kart track up there.insurance wise he should be ok as he ownes a very big insurance company.

i admit, the town aint up to much (aint up to anything actually) but my parents used to take us here all the time and the pier was the only place worth going too...

What a poor shame for all the holiday makers. I was only on the pier on saturday 26th when I took the kids to the weston for the day because the weather was nice.
The pier brings in many tourists to weston and lets hope someone as the balls to rebuild it. It was destroyed by fire in 1930 and rebuilt, before re-opening in 1933. This year it opened with new go-cart and climbing wall and gift shop.
Perhaps we should start a save the pier Campaign....what do you think ????

Weston Super Mare is a dump, its easily a poor mans Blackpool. This is a blessing in disguise.
Maybe this will teach people to start going abroad for there holidays instead of going to crime ridden town where if you go with a car and caravan for a holiday, you come back on a bus after your car has been stolen by the idiots that live in Weston !!!
