How to spot a Fake MAC 239 Brush

I just purchased a 239 brush on ebay by a U.S. seller that looks pretty trustworthy judging by his/her feedback and the brush itself looked legit but I won't know for sure until I get it in the mail. I've been doing some research and I've found that's it actually kind of hard to tell the difference because fakes can be made to look almost identical to real ones.

i belive they are originals because she has 100% positive feedback and some comments which confirms they are originals. Any way i look in youtube and found your video. In photo it seems original to me.

good suggestions but your points are not a rule of thumb. I've seen some that look EXACTLY like the real ones in all the points you mentioned, except the brush hair was mixed beige/white and black. it seems as if they are getting better at duplicating them.

In my opinion I think that a fake one won't give the same results as the real one it's not the same quality, but if your brush has the same results keep using it, sometimes cheap brushes do a good job :)

OMFG.

My 239 is a fake. All this time. I stumbled on this video by chance.

I think the biggest giveaway is the wellmark.

Also just discovered a 190 foundation brush of mine is a fake too (also bought from eBay.) Now I'm pissed.

I bought a 190 from eBay and I keep looking at it to see if it is a fake or real guess I need to buy it from a mac store to see if is it real or not it was from the seller is makeupemporium1

I contacted the seller and she gave me a refund. I went to mac and got the real deal! :) I'll definately still use the fake one!

affter seeing this I know I definately ordered a fake one.. oh well off to the mac store probably will see a big difference in the application.

if you bought it at a mac store or online its ok, you don't have to be worried if it's fake.

Ive got one here. The head detaches from the handle easily. I dont care because i got it cheap bur i will be reporting to ebay. I have obsereved that the seller not only has an ublimited supply but is a new seller and all of the feedback is from 'private' buyers. I was going to contact them.

That's bad :( this type of seller make believe that it's a real mac. If a person really wants a mac buy them at a mac store. I use my fake one in case that the real one is dirty but it is terrible to use I think I'll throw it away.

I think around 5% of MAC brushes are real on Ebay and they are usually sold by people who have an unwanted gift or something. This brush isnt bad to use for now. i will see what its like once it has been washed.

yes, I have the 239, 217 and 219 and they all say Japan :)

There are some people that do sell original mac brushes on ebay but you have to be real careful because it is so hard to spot if it's a fake one or real. Unfortunately the one I bought is fake, but still use it in case my real mac 239 is dirty and if your finding quality it is best to buy it on a mac store, mac counters or online. :)

Thanks for the vid. It is very hard to spot a fake on ebay. And I have found that a lot of the sellers dont show you a very close up pic of the brush, now I know why.

Isnt the real MAC made of Goat hair? I think authentic MAC brushes are only sold on EBAY when someone is either selling one second hand or they have received an unwanted gift or maybe its a stolen one. There is never any need to sell a MAC brush at 50% of the price or less.

This is strange. I thought my brushes that I got from ebay were fake just because they didnt work that great. I found this video and the weird part is that my brush has all the signs of the fake one but the well mark is the same as the one on the real 239 brush.

yes sometimes the bottom of the metal part is well mark and the rest of the brush can be fake but in this case the one that I'm showing it is not well mark that's why I emphasize that part :)

Thanks for the info! I just purchased a 226 brush through ebay .. it's so hard to tell if it's fake until u actually get it!! i clearly states that it's authentic and that the seller can provide a receipt .. i have many MAC brushes and when I received this one .. i knew it was FAKE!! so mad!!

Wow, its really hard to spot a fake, if you don't have an actual mac brush. But thanks for the vid, very informing.
