The government opened up their door because they are desperately need money. Will this help the average or poor community? I dough it. Their government known to be corrupted. Reason maybe why they close their door for so many years?
Back in 1981 I was still there, I've never seen that many monks, communist will kill them. Don't know what happen now, where all the monks came from?!
@youngphan Those are probably young monks aka ai-juar. It's tradition that a young person spends their time as one even for a short period or when someone passes away. Earlier this year in Laos I met a young monk at a wat in the middle of Pakse city who had spent 7yrs there already! I did it for 7 days locally in Syd - Aus & FYI my grandparents spirits were able to pass on, but that is another story.
