I feel sorry for Helen Bamber. She is well-respected holocaust therapist with great integrity, but she is elderly. It is quite clear there is a bad apple in her organisation that is using her credibilty to get where he needs to go.
He took the Trafficking is Torture website down the second the Met/Guardian released their incredible idea that trafficking is negligible.
if this bloke defends the inauthenticity of the 25,000 statistic, then it flies in the face of his work, his reputation and the findings of Amnesty International itself...his boss no less, who released the statement in the first place. Removing the web-site on the 21st oct does not scream: trafficking does exist yet not to the extent of the 25,000 statistic...rather, it screams: the website's coming down because the Met/the press have upped the anti to saying trafficking doesnt exist
He needs to come clean whose side he is on, cos he is gonna trip up sooner or later.
Apart from that, is the issue of funding..
As far as i can make out, the Bamber Foundation are not completely private. They are funded by the the Mayor's office, the UK tax-payer but run a policy of not helping UK citizens, but only persons that the Home Office wants to deport on grounds illegal immigration etc. So public funding /resources is taken for a system that is not free at the point of delivery
To top it all, their literature states that its the UK government are the enemy of traffick victims -owing to corruption :"links that extend up and down society..even into the halls of govt itself" But correct me if I am wrong but it is Denis Macshane MP HArriet HArman etc that are doing the level best as lone voices against the media etc to abolish prostitution and trafficking. It is the Met and the media that are putting the boot into those efforts, not the govt........???
By saying the Met/press have more credibilty than the govt , is being a trafficking- statistic denier himself...if he thinks the govt are corrupt but not the press/police (one of the biggest customers of the escort industry) he is either foolish or playing some sort of double role.
Maybe he can defend himself by saying : he didnt give an opinion away, he just voiced a reaffirmation of the medias stance...but does that sound like a man who at heart is against trafficking-or even prostitution?
