  • I was hatched in '57, My Dad drank Shlitz a lot when i was a kid. I'd like to have that old case of Shlitz, probably be a collectors item today

  • did they get it out?

  • yes they did indeed open the vault in 2007

boyd coddinkton was there, whoring himself out for the occasion. turns out the car was destroyed because the chamber was flooded. looks like boyd couldnt hype it up enough.

  • @lilniconico

Haha yeah they got it out alright. The fucking dumbass Okies weren't wise enough to make the box hermetic (Go figure). When they did open it all they got was water and a rusted piece of junk. Whats even more funny is now they're actually trying to have that piece of junk restored. All the wd40 in the world couldn't restore that car.

  • Wow, i watched a video about it after it came out, it was just disappointing

  • @lilniconico

LOL watch the exact same thing happen to the Chrysler Prowler that they buried when its dug out in 2057.

  • I was there in 1957! To see my parents again was unbelievable! Miss Tulsa!

  • i watched this in june on tv haha so cool

  • Easy to be a monday morning quarterback.

  • The next time, they ought to just seal off an above ground room in a new building under construction. For those of you who don't know, Plymouth was a division of Chrysler Corporation, now Daimler-Chrysler.

  • pfft, im canadian, i dont care. we got FREE health care here

  • @sophiegromit

Hey it's Oklahoma what do you expect?

  • If the saga of the 50-year-old car interests you, check out the title track from my new CD, "Plymouth Belvedere," released just last month (country tune about an embarrassing old car). Can you relate? Please pass the word along, particularly to any radio stations in Oklahoma that should be playin' the song. Google "Trish Lester" and you can hear the song and read lyrics on my music page. And, of course, the CD is for sale, too. --- Trish Lester, Singer/Songwriter, Santa Clarita, California

  • 50 freaken years! people from all over the world flew in to see this. People paid big bucks just to have a seat in the stadium. World wide coverage! Mega pre-production light camera and action!. Now here it is ladies and gentlemen! A 50 year old pile of rusty ole 57 chevey that you can see at any ole dump.... Gotcha! and thanks for your money...Welcome to TULSA! Now get the F$%K outta here!

  • Tulsa totally awesome come see it some day!Son of a bitch!

  • @9maria91

No, Tulsa Oklahoma sucks. As does the rest of that shitty state.

  • Geeze, the beers floated into to near the dash. Only one can leaked after 50 years.

  • would have lasted better by just leaving it on the showroom floor

  • @dazenweeks

Or the ocean floor for that matter.

  • We all hoped this car would age better, but it is the spirit that counts. As a person following this event from a distant country, I can say that the luxury of living in a place that investes money and effort in time capsules and nostalgia instead of basic survival, is your greatest reward.

  • Right on nim205. I live in Tulsa and was very sadened by this. But hey, we tried!

  • Haha, I just saw the pictures of the car today! xD

  • Haha it came out as a piece of junk :P

  • lol bad attempt

  • we shall bury you, said Nikita (einmal)

  • Superallye, I thought the same, that only if there were a drain tube, the outcome would have been much different. Although the chances of the drain tube clogging with sediment up over a period of 50 years would have been really high, as there would not have been any access to maintenance on it. Mother Nature had her way!

  • Now that you mentioned it, a drain pipe & some regular maintenance? LOL. Realistically though I think it's either a drain pipe (leading to sewege) with a branching tube surfacing to the outside world for someone to put Draino regularly & a probe to monitor or else entomb the car with a material other than concrete cause concrete like rock crumbles. Maybe a tightly welded sealed Titanium Tomb would have protected it altogether. Whatever car will be buried next, surely lessons were learned here

  • a small drain in the tomb could have preserved the car :(

  • It's finally been uncovered:

    youtube com/watch?v=ye4WOha1f2k

  • Is there a video yet of what the car actually looks like??

  • well, the car came all rusted from sitting in water for years. But the time capsle held up!

  • we are in the future people!!! there's no more future this is it hahaha

  • HAHAHAA

Only in USA, only in USA!

  • i wonder if the beers still good? mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm beer.

  • well the capsule flooded over 50 years.

  • I like how they put oil and gas in there... just in case we were all flying atomic rocket cars in 2007. Or maybe they had an early inkling about Peak Oil? But then I'm projecting.

  • Nice car, but the line that out ot me was "the contents of a lady's purse, including tranquilizers"...oy. are we in Tulsa or Stepford?

  • That's really interesting! Wish I could be there to see how the car looks now! Hope it still looks like it did in 1957!

  • Wow - wish I could witness the unearthing - what a great idea. I'm glad someone had that kind of foresight 50 years ago. It'll be interesting to see what kind of continuity exists between then and now. (And wouldn't I like to be the next of kin who wins the car!)

  • This is very interesting. Can't wait to see it uncovered. Wish I could be there in person but you won't be able to get within a mile of that place when it is revealed.
