its this word my dad uses to describe people that arent like jugglers or anything, like normal people i guess. and dube is a juggling supply company that makes knives specifically for juggling that have a false edge that only look sharp.
You saw the tomato drop through the blades at the beginning. A tomato won't drop through a dull blade. And with 3 blades, like I demonstrated, the weight is distributed over all 3 blades, so they had to be especially sharp. You CAN, however, catch an apple on a dull blade, but not a tomato- that's why I used a tomato. You can't fool an audience of chefs/cooks. I got Nella brand kitchen knives from the distributor the day before the event and had the guy sharpen them up on the grinder.
if u take a dube knife and hit an apple hard enout it will cut it without a real sharp edge. it might make your routine a little better to cause you know you wont cut yourself and you wont be scared of the blade
Yeah, I found that out practicing with dull knives. But I wanted to juggle real knives, not cast illusions, or falsely claim that they were really sharp. The dull knives would not cut the tomato into slices and so I would just be faking the whole act. I wanted the actual danger. Overcoming the fear of the blades was part of the challenge for me. It wasn't so much a performance for me but more of a personal accomplishment- to juggle the actual sharp knives in front of a bunch of people.
good point. it was still a feat. i just juggle dull ones with a point and pop a balloon. for some reason i think its the noise it makes it seem more dangerous
Sharp? Really? You should just buy dubé juggling knives and use them!
