  • My favourite film and what an opening sequence, the music is quality

  • pilot deserved to die for not shooting Bond when he had a chance, why would he jump out from the plane anyway???and leave bond?? DUH?!?! keep the frigging plane..shoot Bond..dump his body and call it a day.....cant find a good hench men back in those days..

  • @pogiliscious Thats what i was thinking.

  • I wonder why the shuttle have fuel onboard during transport? But it is still a

    good film.

  • ermm now i dont want to be the one to put a spanner in the wrks ......but erm where exactly did the shuttle get its fuel from on take off?? If anyone knows about the space shuttle and even later in the film you see the shuttles take off with 3 SRB's!! erm can someone explain this to me........??

  • @MovieMad007 The first few shuttle test flights in 1977 had the shuttle launching from the top of a plane, so that part is quite realistic. In reality, though, the shuttle was simply released from its casing and glided away, rather than actually launching itself the way they portray it in 'Moonraker'. As the first actual shuttle launch wasn't until 1982, however, the cast majority of the public watching the film wouldn't know anything about the way the shuttle actually worked.

  • @demon27dan Your wrong! April 12, 1981 Sunday it was, John Watts Young A Moonwalker and Pilot Robert Crippen...

  • @MovieMad007 The shuttle hadn't flown at this point. The producers wanted the film to be shown before the first launch. They'd obviously hadn't done their research thoroughly.

  • Look at 2:59, through the door you can see Jaws (at least his left leg) sitting the the seat of the co-pilot. That means he'd been in there and waited for the right moment.

  • possibly the worst bond of them all

  • @J4K31 I wouldn't say the worst overall, but definitely the most over-the-top.

  • @Tubewings Bottom 3? :P

  • @J4K31 definitely, one has to wonder if they were running out of ideas. That aside, IMO this is the best pre-credits scene

  • @rocketman544 definitely, i loved the jaws fight scenes

  • I wonder how they filmed that?

  • @ryanjfitz By making over 80 jumps. Special flat parachutes were hidden under clothing that could be quickly ripped away from velcro fastenings. The cameraman had an ultra-lightweight camera mounted on his head.

People who say Moonraker is the worst Bond deserve a punch in the face. This sequence amazes me every time I see it.

  • @back2frinky

Moonraker is ridiculous but knows it's ridiculous. That's why it's fun.

And Live and Let Die is easily the worst Bond ever.

  • @fagbert I actually quite enjoy Live and Let Die.

  • @back2frinky The opening stunts had to be one of the most amazing in the history of the Bond films, outlandish yes but definitely thrilling as a sequence should be in a James Bond film. In those days they made films to entertain and that was the ultimate goal for the Bond films, to give action films you would love to see.

  • Lucky for Jaws the circus was in town.

  • I love the freefall scene... and Barry's music makes it.

  • jaws must have been in the crapper

  • best opening sequence of a bond movie or rather any movie!!

  • Um, where did the woman go? Did she turn into jaws? That would be weird o_0

  • @Iffy350 I wondered the same thing, but you can see her putting on a parachute while Bond is wrestling with the bespectacled guy on the plane. Exactly how Jaws hid himself on the plane is another matter altogether . . .

  • @olsona Could Jaws have been in the Cockpit?

  • @romanblood I guess so. I always wondered who Jaws was working for between Stromberg and Drax!

  • @Iffy350 She must have turned into Shirley Bassey...
