  • the blue mech 's gun looks like heero's from Gundam Wing

  • cool, except the red one shudve had more of a chance, lol

  • nice music form zone of the enders :D

  • reminds me of gundam

  • groudon and kyogre!? coool!!!!

  • wtf, oversized lightsaber?! xD that was very nice.

  • the blue mech looks like a rip off of the AC from Armored Core 2

  • @AlteisenNacht Indeed it is! No denying it. Just goes to show how much I enjoyed the design ya?

  • Heres my question... how do you integrate them (3ds max models) into a game?

Now I know this question is the kind of question I am likely to get flamed for, but I'm asking honestly, having the programming know how to have an intelligent discussion.

    That's not to say I'm a full-fledged programmer, if I was I would know, wouldn't I?

I'm more of a hobbyist/aspiring programmer, trying to get a grasp of these things, and I would really appreciate answers. For instance, how are they drawn in a game?

  • Sorry for the long reply, my inbox gets crowded so Idon't see many things.

If you want to add a model to a game, let me tell you it is very diverse and nonstandard everywhere. Some games require you go through like four programs to render it compatible, some simply require a 3DS Standard export which is ultra simple. Some games require you do install ridiculous system changes and stuff while others don't need anything at all. What game you want in particular?

  • Post 3D Studio Max is amazing too bad it's really expensive!

  • the educational edition is much cheaper. I think $400-600 instead of $4000

  • impressive work. Glad to know at least the academic version is under $1,000 dollars.

  • @Quoranation there exists something like "thepiratebay" and everything is free there too.

who the fuck pays for shit

  • I do not go to piratebay not when I can go to "sourceforge" and get open source software. I even use blender which is open source and I use audacity which is open-source too. I love open source software. However I'll pay for something if I think it's worth the money or I look for cheap alternatives.

  • The best thing about Open source software is that it is free too.

Some of it is just as good if not better than it's commercial counterparts. Sometimes Open-source software sucks too or it's even more complicated. Like inkscape for example is just as powerful as adobe illustrator and corel draw. I find it complicated because I'm not familiar with it.

  • Open source can be good but quite frankly I'm not going to use Blender. I've spent years learning and working my skill with 3DS and Maya... I'm... not really in the mood to learn a new program as complex as a 3D editor... Still, cracking is okay as long as you don't try to go too far with it. Limited use I'd say... don't even try to make money off of an illegal crack. Still, go for blender! I hear it can do good things, just be prepared to learn!

  • @Quoranation Do what you like, but remember not to cry about prices being so high because u can get it for free.

  • Free yes, Illegal Yes, Risky Yes. Honestly I don't think Autodesk care much about the small individuals who crack their program for personal or game modding use. Quite frankly their iff comes from companies that try to crack it. THEN that becomes an issue. I cracked my latest 3DS Max 2010 because I need to use it for school when I am home away from school. I'd say that is a fair trade off considering I BOUGHT 3DS Max 7 Legit. Edu version.

  • @VengeanceMkII cool story bro

  • freaking amazing

  • That lasersword is a long as a street.

  • you based this off the main armored core for Armored Core 2 didn't you?

  • THAT IS GOOD what version did u use? 3ds max and how did u do those other graphics.

  • This is so great man... great work... though the twin buster rifles kinda remind me of the Wing Zero..but i enjoyed it man....keep it up

  • Back then I was hardly original

  • pls don't be offended, man, i'm just saying what i see...;)..great work man,, just great

  • Still, I wasn't very original. The rifle thing was taken from it.

  • WTF, great work man!

  • Why does he have winged zero's guns

  • Dunno, just felt like it

  • Nice mix though

try gundam mechs like the gundam itself and maybee a zaku

  • 0:09 thats the zio matrix merc AC2

  • Never played AC2, only copied a few images

  • Whats the rendering time for a project like this???

  • It wasn't really a project but back then when I was making this it took about a week total to complete. But at that time I had a 1.4ghz processor and a 128mb graphics card. Rendertimes were like several minutes per frame.

Now I have a 3ghz dual core and a 512mb graphics card. I can probably render that in less than a day.

Check my profile and watch Bluestar Mech Battle. Render times for that scene was 1:30 a frame and has over 1000 frames. Took a few days and was far more complex.

  • I'm curious because im just getting into 3d studio max and a 10 second render with mild particle effects took me like 2 days. Is something wrong with my settings? I have a quad core 2.1 intel with 4 gigs of ram.

  • is that program easy to use

  • It depends. Of all modeling programs it has the easiest learning curve I know of. Compared to Maya 2008 it is easy to grasp. To make complex stuff would take a while though. However just because it is easy doesn't mean it is simple, you'd need a few weeks time and plenty of tutorial books to understand it.

  • dude, sweet Armored Core 2 ref on the blue guy! Zio Matrix, right?

  • great video :)

  • Thanks, be sure to see my latest one with the Blue Star and King Mech which had superior animation quality.

  • Thank you, Wing Zero. Or at least the gun.

But nice work either way. You may want to work on your texture and shading, as edge-recognition on robots like that at high speeds gets difficult. Basically, at times, they look like blobs. Awesome work though

  • I would... but this video is crap old when I couldn't texture or shade at all. The only thing I find good about this video is the good animation and movement. Other than that... I could do so much better.

  • I like it mechs for ever

  • Hmm could have sworn I left a message on this one months ago. Good work nonetheless! :)

  • Perhaps someday I should remake it. If you have noticed I made it long ago and if you look in my profile you should see one of my more recent animations. Though a very different subject the models are obviously superior in quality.

  • LOL Zone of the Enders music

  • Yep, seemed the most fitting and coincidentally it synced perfectly.

  • zone of the enders was a good choice to use in this vid. Great job. And FYI for all the mech fans. If you like mechs pick up ZOE its funtastic. Even after you beat it it gets old

  • I have played both ZOE games and beaten them several times over so I am familiar with them.

  • I specialy like the view when the blue one avoid the explosion.

  • Wooo this looks awesomeª

  • Thanks :D

  • ahahahaaa! not bad. gotta love 2 mechs battling it out! 5/5 wish i could do stuff like this. maybe u could also look to armored core for some insperation. it's one of the best mech games i know about. but just a suggestion.

  • Well the blue one is based off AC. I also like the series though I didn't like Last Raven for the horrific difficulty and all.

  • love this video of combining EtherMaster Wing Zero and Temjin. Is this program downloadable?

  • I don't know 2 of those things but yes it is a sort of combination of ideas. An Armored Core with a bit of Wing Zero and some stuff I saw in a dream. Sorry, only the 30 day trial is downloadable, other than that it is an expensive program.

  • K thanks!

  • that was crazy d00d. My only thing is the beam saber seems a bit too long. Other then that awesome. I just started learning 3D yesterday so this blows my mind.

  • Well it was a bit on purpose. Just to make the guy seem tougher than the average machine. Though to be honest I really would like to just blow this video away with something new...

  • Sooo...friggin...COOL! I know it copys a bunch of stuff, but still, who cares if its not origional? I'd like to see this many concepts combined into one mech.

  • Thanks! Yeah I know it is heavily copied but that was a long time ago. I bet I could remake this whole animation several times better.

  • thats was very entertaining.....could have been longer, and a bit more fighting though, but still very entertaining, awesome graphics...give it a cityscape and youve got an award winner right here

  • Only problem was the rendering time of those scenes. One scene took several hours to render, in all it took 7 days to even render it all out. However now that I have a new more powerful PC I could probably render that out in less than half the time.

  • very entertainin. i wish i could make that to. and thAts ZEo MAtrix's stable right there.

    u know im right ^^

  • Zeo Matrix?

  • dont tell me you have nevewr played Armored Core 2

  • Not yet.

  • Zeo Matrix-The Largest AC corporization on Mars. They make the most valuables items on Mars. There HQ is located on Earth but the Mars HQ revolts into trying making Mars having their own Government not listening to the Earth Government. Leos Klein was behind this revolt.

  • I would like to get AC2... though I can never return to the old control style. Too unresponsive for my tastes...

  • Try editing the controls to make it similar to Armored Core Nexus to Last Raven's control.

  • No good, they only support a single joystick.

  • I mean like R1 for shooting, L1 for Blading and activating switches, Square to move left, O to move right, X for looking down, Triangle for looking up, R2 for switching weapons, L2 for boosting. There it is. Rest is up to you.

  • nonono, it was the issue that the older AC games used only one joystick. I could adapt to any button config quite easily but without a second stick my reaction times are sloppy. Things got bad enough that I discovered an exploit in transferring data and got the OpINTENSIFY right at the beginning of the game and used it nearly all the time.

  • this is a huge knockoff of armored core, gundam wing, and virtual on.

  • Yeah? So I like AC and gundam. Nothing is wrong with making a mecha video like it.

  • lolz ZOE SR music

  • is the blue one supposed to be a mech of temjin with seraph boosters?

  • Um... what?

  • Just google it. Temjin is an old mech character with a gun that looks like the one in this video and a seraph is a creature with 6 wings. Seraph boosters however are 6 rear mounted boosters in a vague shape of a wing. Thus seraph boosters

  • oops sorry i meant a MAXIMUM of 6 rear mounted boosters. my bad

  • This is hot stuff, would you be able to make a tutorial on how to model mechs?

  • Modeling is one thing but rigging is another. Rigging allows me to easily animate these. But if you have the modeling tools go and look for existing mechs like Armored Core and copy them, they are some very good looking mechs.

  • Check out my homemade mech battle vid, it's only one I've got loaded. Took me a fair while. All hand-to-hand choreography. Hope you like ;)

  • Wow you have an awesome vid! Great close combat sequences, I don't think I can do that kind of sequences without making too many mistakes.

  • Hey this is my freind so I know his capability. He truely is good.

  • I can do better. Trust me :-)

  • cool i like it hats hats hats

  • cool mechs hoe long did it take to do, would have taken me years

  • took me a week. Mostly for the rendering. Cel Shading is tough work.

  • Interesting

  • wow

  • Impressive! Very impressive!
