  • This song is fine as music, but, after all, this is an example of pure Chinese propaganda to justify its everlasting control over Tibet. Dalai Lama doesn`t claim that he is a living Buddha. This is manipulation. Tibet could changed on its road to modernisation without Chinese "help". I wouldn`t be surprised if my post will be canceled soon.

  • Another thing - a Buddhist country tends to justify inhumane treatments as the victims' karma. With this attitude, justice is hard to establish in society and modernization becomes difficult to achieve.

  • @pwdeng

I don't really get your first sentence... where did you hear about that?

Karmas in my opinion cannot be described this way though. If you do anything good, you will certainly get something good -- either in this life or/and in your next lives, whereas you will get punishments in this life and/or next lives if you do anything bad, that's what it is about.

  • It is a rare cruelty to make a drum using human skin. I don't know much of Buddhism. Seems this type of artifacts only exist in Tibet. Many Tibetans worship their Lamas. Little do they realize that the Lamas are only human, not real Buddhas. Take Dailai as an example. How could a merciful Buddha rule a country for all his 13 reincarnations as they did in Tibet with 90% of its people were slaves? How could anybody tell others that he or she is in a superior class in any modern country?

  • @pwdeng

I'm not Tibetan, but I have heard that they have this kind of funeral called "Sky Burial" -- in which they cut the bodies into pieces and make vultures eat the pieces. Tiibetans think this is generosity -- dedicating themselves to the livings. Also, Tibetans are very very religious, and the lamas can't make the instruments out of living humans. So it wouldn't be surprising if the sister in the song told the lamas that she would dedicate herself after her death and she dies very young.

  • I mean, "and she happens to die very young".

  • @pwdeng

buddha was a prince before he attained enlightenment. the skins are from corpses, people are not skinned alive. buddhists believe our body is nothing but a vessel, when we die, our soul leaves the body to reincarnate again.
