why does 2 litre mercedes always accelerate slowly from 0-60 KMH compared to japanese cars?

@hishonline they aren't geared for off the line acceleration, they're designed to cruise 150 All Day on the Autobahn. 0-60 may not be the best, but 60-120 is where All the Fun is:)

@jhodg5ck I have a thirty year old 2 litre mercedes, and it speeds up to 170 KM. and yes I agree that,  the car in good condition does not suffer from high speeds

Thank you for your simple and to the point suggestion but Why?? So I can be like every other fellow out there tossing a Porsche around the track? Not that tossing said Porsche wouldn't be fun, but that's a path that has been traveled 10's of thousands of times..I much prefer doing something Different.

Besides, the interest/kudos I receive @ each track makes it worth it, never mind the Thrill of passing said Porsche/BMW/Corvette...

500E's are fun...500E E60's even more so (see other vids);-) Porsche did a lot of the assembly on the 500E (they were slow @ the time w/ an excess of assembly line capacity) and little else.

Biggest gripe w/ the 500 is the all have ASR..granted it's defeatable w/ some doing but then you have a worthless open differential. However, we should have that problem sorted in the next month or so:)

When everyone says 6L do they mean the 5.6L? or did amg stroke the 5.6 to 6? because my local merc specialist recons merc/amg never brought out a 6LV8 only 6LV12,6.3LV8 and

6.9LV8?

They mean 6L. AMG had various size M117's available outside of the standard 5.0 and 5.6. Namely, a 5.2, 5.4 and 6.0.

AMG also made a 7.3L M120 v12. Renntech made 6L M119's and Brabus did a 6.2L.

Yes, I believe that's when this was..we skipped the one in the middle of the summer and did the other event just a couple of months ago.

I didn't see your info about this being the BMW CCA event. Is it BMW CCA or NASA. I remember a Benz at NASA and think that it was you but I'm not sure. I'll look back over the my video and see. If it was you I will post it and link you to it.

My wife and I just went 2 weeks ago with Skip Barber (formally Panoz Racing). I will be back more next year, I only ran twice in '07. Two days in March and one day in December.
