This boss makes me want to kill a puppy. I've been stuck on him for years, and I'm a die-hard Sonic fan by the way.

I can easily kill Silver Sonic several times in a row, but the last boss...12 hits, and even just to hit him requires great timing and luck...I've 100%d Sonic 1 and 3, but 2 can go fuck itself.

Man. Sonic 2 simply rocks. Best soundtrack, best 'new' gameplay(for the time) Uber awsome graphics. I loved this. then? sonic and Knucles came out, then I tried beating this with Knux. whew!! hahahaa... I remember I couldn't even get to this boss. I'd always die on Metropolis Zone act 3. My dad had to beat the rest but looking back now, this is the easiest game in the seires. I beat the entire game in 20 minutes just last week. Needless to say though, it is a fun game just way too quick.

my dad did this boss the regular way. It took like 7 and a half minutes for the 8 hits with metal sonic and 16 with eggman.

I remember finally beating robot sonic as a kid, then running down that hallway thinking I finally conquered the game, only to get repeatedly raped by the real final boss.

Sidenote, I still don't know why they has robotnik run faster than sonic at that point....lol makes no sense

sega did that actually as a brand new idea for video games. they made it seem as if it was like what would happen in the comics or TV shows. sonic beat robotniks metal sonic so they made you have to chase him as if he ran out of ideas or was trying to switch to plan B. seeing as this was on the genisis way back then sonic chasing robotnik like that was a pretty cool idea.

same here. i literaly had to spend 2 weeks studying his moves and right down what he does. first he slides, then spin, then spin jump, etc. and of course you cant save in this game and i didnt know about level select yet so i had to spend half the day going threw the hole game to get to this part. then i made it to egg mech. i kept thinking i had to hit his backpack but that didnt work so guess what? more studying. GGRRRR. too bad back then i had no idea walkthroughs existed. :|

wow! i think my mega collection had a glitch, because i could NEVER jump that high. lmao. i would always die if i tried hitting him just while walking like that. i always just waited till he launched his hands and then high tailed an attack. took forever, and was pretty hard, but relatively effective.

Goofy new characters...don't get me started on that damn rabbit thing...

Old characters made goofy...the old Robotnik was a fatass riff on Teddy Roosevelt. The new design was intended to be more threatening I guess but he just comes off as weird and overly dramatic...and not in a good way.

No new direction. Mario changes up his formula but at the same time retains what we loved about him in the first place. Sonic needs to disapper for a bit

I want to agree with you, one of the first games I played was Sonic 2. But I grew up at a different time and IMHO Sonic Adventure series was fantastic. But that's because I was a child when it was realesed.

Now when I play Sonic Unleashed I think "This is bad" but my nephew says "Wow this is so cool". And I realise. Although to us older players Sonic is loosing it, but to younger players, he has his edge.

And ignoring the countless bugs/loading screens. Sonic 06 was ok.

I've been playing this series since I was about 4 or 5. So I think I qualify as one of the older players.

I actually loved Unleashed. Probably one of the best games I've played in ages. Even loved the Werehog. He's one vicious fucker when you fully level him up (360 version) And as for the Regular Sonic gameplay, it's just what the series needed.

And yes, 06 was good too. Though I've honestly never encountered any bugs. Though the loading screens really took the piss. That's my only complaint.

I also grew up on old sonic games and enjoyed them, then when the "new gen" came i did originally dislike them.

But in a way kind of enjoyed the new character development and finally the dialogue, some new sonic games really fail and are nothing in comparison to the mega drive classics.

But when you think about it, most of the old sega games were remakes of each other so i was glad when stuff like SAB2 and Sonic Heroes came out cause i was like yay diversity.

Thats not Metal Sonic its Silver Sonic which is the Prototype for Metal Sonic.

You'll see what i mean if you play Sonic Adventure as Gamma.

You don't have to play as Gamma, you can see it while playing as any character who goes to the Final Egg.

here's some tips iv played this game so many times i ust to have like 99 lives at the end of the boss..

1. when at the start when metal sonic comes donw u can hit him once...

2. when hes getting ready to attack u have just amount of time to hit him two times

3. and if u spin of the floor while he runs into u u do two hits on him (i think )
