I found out that if you pause, and then press select 16 times, there will be a little square in the down left corner. If you press B and the up/down arrow you will be able to change the amount of lives, time and money.

@LightUpThePoison Have to agree, I bought Game Boy Pocket and had this as the single game to go with it. Little did I know I chose the best game on the entire platform by accident. I was very disappointed when I later bought Six Golden Coins. It was stupid of me to sell my system some ten years ago so I'm getting it all back now :) With a quick test on emulator I'd really love to get Virtual Boy's Wario Land on 3DS!

This is by far the best Wario game that has ever been released, in my opinion. Didn't like the successors too much, where you couldn't even die. Though they weren't bad either. But this game... Man I spent hours with it, it's just absolutely great. Too bad that I sold my Game Boy and all the games when I was still a child. Could still kick my own butt for that. :/

I don't remember much more of it than that... it has been WAY too long since I've played or been there. I thought it would have been on the internet by now, and it is a fainting memory. Just when you play the game a lot and finally unlock something like that, you do remember it. Some details stay more than others. I hope somebody else can find it too and post it. The pitch fork world, has the pitch fork in the middle on an island, with a river running from the bottom to the top of the screen going around the pitch fork. You start on the left hand middle of the screen and walk right to the first level. Then second level you strole down and right, at the left bottom or the pitch fork. I didn't pass that. Nor did I ever dare exit the world to know if you could get back to it from the main map.

To get to it, I am not exactly sure how I unlocked it. I thought it weird that pitch fork being there and not a world, so thought perhaps beating the end boss a number of times would unlock it. So I repeatedly beat the boss a few times without turning off my Game Boy, not sure it it was the manner I beat him, or when I did the 4 button restart of the game, or what not. But it then reloaded me into the pitch fork world.

I see not even you found the secret world... seems nobody has, since I can't find it anywhere, gamefaqs and name it. But once over 10 years ago, I had a save file with 42 levels in this, probably was 44 or 45 total(since I wasn't done the world yet). Unfortunately it was my cousin's game boy and game, and she erased my save file :(

It happens that that pitch fork on the main map right of the end world is a secret world. I played at least 2 levels of it, so I know it exists.
