Although his comment was pretty pointless because he's comparing a black unit (SASR) to a white unit (Army SF), Australia has made contributions. In WWI they fought heavily in Turkey and Europe. They also fought with us in Korea and in Vietnam. They also had a presence in Iraq and still are operating in Afghanistan. Just wanted to mention it.

Actually I did watch the SASR vids. Pretty much looks like the same stuff in a warmer climate, with less sleep. Then again, Australia's SASR is their "Tier 1" top of the line unit. America's Tier 1 unit recruits from the best of the Green Berets & Rangers, and you'll never see a video of their selection process.

Every Soldier is trained on the M16 rifle as well as other US weapons including (at a minimum) the M249 SAW, the M18A1 Claymore mine, the AT4 Anti-tank Weapon, and others, as more seem to have been added since the time I went to Basic. The quote you botched is "Every Marine is a rifleman". The same is true of Army personnel. Regardless of MOS, every Soldier, NCO, and officer receives marksmanship training and must regularly qualify with their assigned weapon(s).
