Yes, the Gestapo (who barely ever wore uniforms) are frequently dressed up as SS in Hogan's Heroes, though this show was not alone. A number of movies, going back to the war, used the same convention.
i thought the SS and gestapo where part of the same general "secret police and army" force. with gestapo as officers of the over all SS. atleast thats always been my impression. There was the german military. The warmarchet or whatever it was called. Then there the SS&gestapo the special forces and secret police....... ill stop y stupid speculations now
Plus, they usually mess up the ranks. Even though nearly all Gestapo and SD members were also SS, they never wore uniform and had SS ranks, not army ranks. Therefore, the proper rank for Hochstetter would be Sturmbannführer. And his insignia actually makes him Obersturmbannführer.
