its amazing what this loco gets up to, you could write stories about this loco. RSG THE DIESEL ENGINE lol, puts thomas and the gang to shame does rsg, love this engine the classiest thats ever been made, thank you
Fabulous sound and stunning HD mate, best Deltic video I've seen for a long time. The couple cowering in the bus shelter on Coatbridge Central must've wondered what the hell was coming through!! ;-)
The Napier engines are two stroke so they create blue/grey smoke anyway as they constantly burn oil. In the case of the Deltic, after a period of idling or low speed use, oil carryover builds up in the exhausts/silencers because the pressure of the exhaust isn't enough to blow it through. Then when the engines get fully opened up it gets blown out, with the results you see here! Even by Deltic standards the amount of smoke here is exceptional!
Thanks for all the comments lads and lasses, the locations are : Fort William Alcan Works, Fort William Junction, Achallader (between Rannoch and Bridge of Orchy) , Glen Falloch (south of Crianlarich), Arrochar & Tarbet and Coatbridge Central. The 66 was 102 and it was on the Grangemouth to Dalston fuel tanks
what a bloody awesome sight in the Scottish highlands! Shame about the rain. It actually seems a waste of such a powerful engine but boy what a sight!
great vid!!!! but what a comedown for a lady to be hauling freight,, but i suppose it still keeps the deltic legend alive.... thanks
