  • Would you suggest using this same method for smaller skulls like rats/birds? I own a jar of bird skulls that I found quite clean a while back & I soaked them in metho for a day or 2 & then left them to dry for a day. They still smell when you open the lid of the jar & I soaked them at least a year ago.

I'm also waiting for a dead rat in the backyard to decompose so I can take his bones.

I was just wondering if these critters might need weaker chemicals since the bone would be smaller/thinner.

  • @Rhaveyn yeah might work since it's so mild, i've also seen people microwave the hydrogen peroxide with the bones and they get extra white im not sure on the method for that though

  • @dirteReviews Hmm...Alright, I shall look into that! Thank you :)

  • I'm doing this with a full rabbit, then I'm going to attempt to articulate them!!!!

  • @Deadbodieseverywher sounds nuts! hope it turns out good!

  • cold water MASCERATION

  • dermestid beetles r the bugs ur thinking about

  • very helpful info dude' Thanks'

I will post mine soon and inform u too'

  • This is awesome! Thank you!

  • They have peroxide cream too. I had 30% and in two applications it got snow white, just by brushing it on.. You can find it at a drug store.

  • @lewandlo yeah mine only had the 3% stuff but it worked out ok

  • cool video

  • you never wear flip flops when dealing with chemicals

  • @THATMINININJA good call! lol luckily the chems i used arent to bad

  • do you know what the animal was??

  • @BeyondParanormalTV i'm pretty sure it's a wild pig

  • @dirteReviews Noooo it is a doe as in a female deer pigs have a special bone on the nose looks very odd you would have known but of course both have very skinny heads, where do you live city country and what state but anyways next time if it has flesh present boil it makes it clean as can be can be done anywhere that has a old useless pot and hot water but slow and steady cause if not bone sprinter in bleach to so do not use bleach it cracks bone inside which makes it weak.

  • @AmericanPitbulls1 that is a wild hog dude

  • @dirteReviews No it is a pig pardon me I was having a bad view k bye

  • @dirteReviews That was definitely a hog.

  • yea i bleached one of mine it took 3 times soaking it in baking soda to stop the bleach from eating away the bone

  • Nice video thanks. my skull was a buck and the antlers made it stand high in the bucket, it was going to take a LOT of peroxide. I ended up getting a narrow shoe box and lining it with a piece of heavy plastic. The box was deep enough to cover the skull and minimize the amount of peroxide needed.

  • @donaldstop good idea!

  • even ants will work

  • emperor beetles

  • Excellent! Thank you soooo much! :D

  • You can put them in the ground for 3 months, in most soils. and they will be mostly clean. Boiling them makes the bones weak.

  • domestic beetle

  • freaky!!

  • Nice job..

  • PPE... Flip flops......lol

  • I rate this video, it really helps thx bro!!

  • Nice! Thank you for all the information.

  • @TheKellyRedhead im glad it was helpful!

  • what if its a newly dead skull

  • @mrbones521 try and scrape everything you can off with a knife or something, then you could boil everything else off

  • @dirteReviews thank you tat should help alot

  • @dirteReviews boil the skull first, then scrap it, then peroxide it. The paste peroxide works best and use the lacquer in the spray can, its a lot easier and more efficient than using the brush lacquer method.

  • @trevorlynnsmith22 i tried to get the paste but the lady at the salon was like we don't sell it, lol then i told her why i needed it and she probably thought i was crazy! thanks for the tips

  • Thank you for this video, I had been using a bleach or bleach& water mixture to whiten for the longest, until I saw the reccomendation to use peroxide...and yes it really does work wonders...I defintiely wouldnt of thought of this! Thanks for posting this up, very informative.

  • 2:00 he said eaten out! hahahahaha. And by the way, fireants work miracles in regards to getting the meat out of the skull and everything. they get it all if you leave it in there a couple days-a week. And if you boil them, they might shatter and also it will make teeth fall out sometimes.

  • Hay if you or any one haves bones that they don't want tell me pleas I'll take any thing rely I have a bird skull a cow skull and a boxer turtle skull and looking for more bones I can't get enuf of them I love them I take rely good care of them pleas if you have any you don't whant tell me

  • thnx i found a rat and raccoon skulls at huffman prarie flying feild the other day and know i found 7 skulls this week

  • @2Fanzy nice! your gonna have quite a collection

  • it looks a bit more like a pig or boar than a goat, but i'm no professional. great job! very good video :) i learned a bit here.

  • @kattykillfish yeah im pretty sure its a pig, glad you liked the video!

  • LOL THE DAMN ANIEM BLEACH XD

  • thankyou ive been looking for a hour fr a skull vid and everyone seemed to stop at the bleacing process and i really needed the preserving process to so thanks

  • @walchsa right on! what kind of skull you doing? glad the video helped!

  • @dirteReviews a fainting goat i found out in the woods near a river

  • @walchsa damn that river scarred him to death! a fainting goat thats a nuts find!

  • @dirteReviews haha yeah all i found was the head already striped of fleash and the reast of it. its kind of nawd on but it adds to the charm. were i found there were 4 different sets of print. a coon. big coyote smaller coyote and a puppy coyote. looked like the pup had been chewing on it for a while.

  • @walchsa nice forest csi action!

  • We are in the process of cleaning up a pretty nice skull we found in the woods. We b boiled most of the tissie & matter away. We still have to boil one more day & remove the brain. We really enjoyed your video. You did a great job at explainng everything. I think we'll use the laquer finish too bc your's looked so nice.

  • @lmg521 sweet! what kind of skull? a video of the finished product would be cool!

  • That looks awesome man, I read the same thing you did and just bleached one today, Its only a black bird skull I found this morning outside my window, I used the hot water masication (boiling it) there wasnt much organic matter left on it but i boiled it anyway, Looking to shoot my first coyote and preserve its skull here in the next couple weeks, If i get one I'll send ya the link when i get it preserved. Good job man!!

  • @blindside357 sounds sweet! how did the black bird turn out? can't wait to see the coyote!

  • @dirteReviews Hey, the blackbird turned out good It came out kind of shiny though from the coating i used. I chose varathane spray over polyurethane spray.I didnt have any brush on and it was here so i wasnt going to buy any. If i do it again with the coyote (if i get one) im going to use the polyurethane, its a satin finish instead of the glossy varathane. The spray worked well though alot better than i thought it would, if i get a chance i'll post a video and hit ya wit the link

  • @blindside357 sounds good! i look forward to it!

  • dont use bleach, i used it for a few bones and the bones crumbled after i took them out.

  • @valhalla678 thanks for the heads up!

  • @dirteReviews no problem, i just found alot of bones and read to do it with bleach, good thing they were just random bones i found so i didnt really want them taht bad.

  • is it a bull or cow?

  • @2005AXE i was told its a sow but im not sure

  • That turned out really good...Thumbs-Up;-)

  • That was kinda nasty. LOL

  • i tie mine to a tree and let the birds and sun do the work

  • @JUSTADDCHEESE and it will probably keep away those pesky neighbors! "no you can't play with that boy, he hang skulls from the tree, and he has those dangerous knives!"

  • @dirteReviews hahaha lmao

  • i use 30% hydrogen peroxide and a tooth brush and works every time :)

  • @hanzithaking where do you get it from?

  • @dirteReviews a top secret facility in Germany :D

just kidding, it was one of my dads friends who lives in Germany, and he can get it maybe you are interested send me a pm ?

  • @hanzithaking just wondering if you could get it easily thanks!

  • @dirteReviews i can get 35% for about 33 american dollars ?

  • @dirteReviews I bought 25% Hydrogen Peroxide from a chemistry store.

  • whats that your dog?

  • I like to just leave it next to a red ant hill out in the back yard.. ants get the goop, sun bleaches.. all done.

  • @Vhammer2010 i got a ram skull that was left out in the sun and its super white!

  • very nice

  • Dirte, you have any tips on how to make bones and flesh dissolve?

It is for ehm.. Some eeehm, chicken bones or something, I don't know.

And I want it to dissolve so much I can throw it in a river and no one will ever ever ever find it again.

    Thanks.

  • @GMGvanS don't use bug box to much.... evidence, cold water maceration....take to long and smells so i might attract attention, i would go with hot maceration less time smell, but i just watched predator this weekend and he just used acid so.... up to you good luck with your......chicken bones....or something

oh and don't throw it in the river thats the first place they look.... for chicken bones

  • @dirteReviews I have to get rid of so many chicken bones man... From dozens of chickens.. And if there's one thing the cops don't like it's finding chicken carcasses. I'm going to try that method now, thanks.

  • nice video , very interesting. You should do a cow skull one day

  • @fairman308 if i ever find one, its on!

  • @fairman308 Chit you just reminded me of my first skinning X( it was a friend of mines cow that had died he cut the fresh head off with a hacksaw, then had me hold it (it was a longhorn) by the horns while he skinned it.........fresh........*hurl'*

  • That came out bangin', man. That was some serious research you did to find out how, too.

  • @gunporn68 yeah i had to stray away from youtube! i felt so vulnerable!

  • @dirteReviews LOL! If you were that far gone of an internet addict you wouldn't have fouuund the boar skull. :D

  • You can burry it in an ant hill over a couple of days

  • @bluebeest that would be sweet to do a timelapse on!

  • Damn Dirte I didn't know this was an educational channel lol very cool though brah

  • @Amarksyhk learnin some shit! haha

  • @dirteReviews Like Bill Nye lol

  • Haha fucking "bleach" I love how 1/3 of your related videos are from the anime.. I'm going to go flag them fucking weeaboos.

  • Another thing about the brain for ya.....after you stir it all up, take it and use it to tan your hide with, it works awesome and its free!!! Just another thing to use everything that you have harvested!!!

  • @joshlone1982 good info to know! thanks!

  • epa is like polution control. put the dam thinner on lol

  • @L1ne3 haha, im glad i did i think it helps it soak in

  • Looks cool!!

  • Whoooaaa. Dangerous stuff. Should have put some of those gloves on your feet bro. Do you have lots of water head skulls?

  • @icallgreens they are pretty abundant here!

  • Ive got almost a complete Chihuahua skeleton.. found it when i was doing some yard work for someone over the summer.. i was thinking about cleaning it and selling it on e-bay.. people buy some weird stuff!

  • @markstevenbuisness this method worked pretty good it still looks natural but its all clean and preserved!
